Adding Hugh and Dr Andus to my list of thank yous. It is very gratifying to know that people whose intellect and knowledge I admire find my blog useful. A nice way to start the new year!

Thank you, Franz, Paul and Bob. I appreciate the supportive comments.
And 22111, have a nice day.

Welcome to the forum. If anyone can help you, it's this group.
If I may, it seems like your requirements boil down to this: Ability to create outlines in a single pane with the look and feel of a wor...
Holiday reflections

Franz,
I enjoyed reading your reflections on 2014. One possible solution for your digital, mobile, instant-on writing quest:
I recently bought a ClamCase bluetooth keyboard for my iPad Air, and so ...
Curio 30% off till December 28th

James,
I wrote a review of version 6.4 of Curio several years ago for the now defunct Mac AppStorm website. The page remains available (though I'm not sure for how long). You can find it here:

Jaslar, et. al.,
Thank you for the holiday wishes. I totally agree with you about this forum. It is a shining example of how the Internet should work and seldom does. Like you, I truly value the frie...

Thanks, Hugh. I've seen some chatter about this from the Soulmen twitter feed. Looking forward to the day I can use Ulysses on my iPad and have it sync with my MacBook.

SuperNoteCard now a cloud app!
12/18/2014
I don't know how many of you might recall SuperNoteCard, which was a cross-platform app for writing fiction and nonfiction using a note card organizational scheme. It had been about three years since ...
PC Notebook & Outliner

The only application that comes to mind is OneNote. Though it is not an outliner, you can outline with it. I wrote about my own views of its outlining capabilities here:

mysimplegrid does look interesting... kind of Ginko for data. As you say, sadly, it looks like development has stopped. Also, I find it difficult to trust an online service like this that does not pro...
OT: Membership management software

Pierre,
I need, of course, basic contact management features. I need to track dues payments, membership levels and expirations. I'd want the ability to print mailing labels and membership cards (or c...

Hi, folks. Sorry for the off topic question, but I'm running out of ideas and I thought perhaps someone here might have a suggestions. I am on the board of a small nonprofit organization -- we don't h...

I love how Cassius' innocent notification about the partnership between Evernote and the Wall Street Journal turned into this fascinating thread about cloud apps! This is why I treasure this forum and...
Evernote and "The Wall Street Journal"

I've run into this same problem... being unable to access my Evernote data on my iPad when not able to connect to the Internet. I too am a Premium user. This doesn't happen all the time, so it is both...
From my own vantage point, I'd say this is a misconception. First off, there is not a whole lot of crossover either direction, especially if you remove Microsoft from the equation. Second, it seems to...
OutlineEdit 1.2 & Sale

Hi, Robin,
Nice to hear about the improvements to navigation with keyboard shortcuts.
Hoisting, in my view, is the ability to select any topic and choose to view only it and its sub-topics. (Some de...

I agree and the shortcuts should be easy and intuitive key-combos like CTRL-arrow up, down, right, left.

Indeed, LiquidText does not very enticing. I'm eager to give it a go when they release it. Thank you for the heads up.

Looks like an interesting service. The name is a little unfortunate. One of our enterprising Vermont dairy farmers packages composted cow manure and calls it Moo Do.
Thanks for the notice.

I expected Sheets would do a better job than that, though I'm not sure why. I guess I just assume a database is usually more powerful than a spreadsheet, though the distinction is getting pretty blurr...
I suggest giving Panorama Sheets a try:
