Discovered a beta app in my MS Office Online account -- "Sway". It's easier to view an example of what the app can do than explain the app. (I didn't create this document, MS created it.)

as they say, "an interactive web-based canvas of your ideas"

Thanks for posting this. It looks like a cross between Powerpoint and the latest in web page designs. I am not a big fan of the new trend in horizontal scrolling that is being used so much these days, but I can see this being used for presentations or in lieu of traditional blog posts. Whether it become the new standard or just a fad remains to be seen. Perhaps it is just me, but so many of these new trends just seem like window dressing to make things look new and/or different. I like reading articles or presentations with vertical scrolling, so I am not sure what switching to horizontal does other than to allow people to say that it is different. You know, "it goes to 11"! (from the movie "Spinal Tap" for those not familiar with the reference)

The beta Sway can change the navigation from horizontal to vertical, and it indicates there are other navigation options in the works: page-by-page, album, etc. It's possible to quickly flip the navigation method, though one would want to adjust the content. Looks to me that if one wanted to publish content in a navigation style a la Aeon, or Medium, The Atlantic and so on, then Sway's the thing.

Thanks for the additional information. Despite my criticisms, I am still interested. I wanted to try the beta, but the sign-up requires that you have a MS account, and the account that I want to link to the service is not tied into MS at this time.

Not going too deep into Sway's features, I quickly created a little photo album:

Thanks for posting your sample. I can see this being incorporated into blogs, especially for those that incorporate a lot of media. It has potential.

Sway is another project greenlit by the brilliant Satya Nadella. It would have never happened under Ballmer. So many great things at Microsoft wouldn't be happening had Ballmer not been highly encouraged to exit stage left. Sway doesn't even know where it will end up. It's an interesting project though and looks promising. You have to love the user input driving so many projects at Microsoft.

Not sure if this is correct, please google "Microsoft Morea". Sway seems to be a continuation of that effort ... (which started five years ago - predating S.N.)

"Moorea" not "Morea"
