I concur with what Paul said. It's an interesting concept, but hard to react to without further details.
Worth pursuing, I think.

Another card-based outlining story builder is Story O. I'm not endorsing it, just pointing it out for those who like to explore all options. Here's the website:

Interesting. I noted how all the entries start with a verb, as good to-do lists should.
Thanks for posting this.

Outlinely gets a (minor) update
7/26/2018
Outlinely is frustratingly close to being excellent, but like Luhmann, I just can't over the things that don't work like I would expect or hopeful. For instance, exporting an outline to .doc or .html ...
MarginNote 3 on the way

To be clear, I understood that. I was just wondering if there are ways people have found to use printed documents... i.e. photo scanning a page or something like that.

This looks like a great app, but I am curious about whether it has utility for working with printed documents, or is it just for PDFs?

Inspiration had two winning features that appealed to me:
1. It was much more than a mind map. It did diagramming in many modes. In fact, I think "mind map" was a style of diagram they added late in ...
Journaling, a simplistic view

I've been intrigued by Diarly as well. It shows a lot of promise, but it's concept is that it allows you one page per day, which is different than most journals, in which you can create as many entrie...

Just an FYI. I contacted Mariner Software again about MacJournal and got this response:
"Yes, we ran in to some delays but do plan on releasing an update in the near future."

Hugh,
The developers have introduced an iOS app and it is very elegantly conceived (may still have a few bugs).

That's a great suggestion, Paul.
As an aside -- or maybe it isn't -- one of the developers, I believe, also worked on Findings.

Zoot used to be my go-to information manager, back when it only did plain text notes. It was a great app. I think Tom Davis broke Zoot when he created Zoot XT. He not only made it work with formatted ...

What is "ugly" software?
7/11/2018
Good question, Paul.
In my mind, if the software is unusual-looking, but otherwise well designed, it's quirky. If it is unusual-looking and not well designed, it is ugly.
