Twig
6/4/2010
Hugh, thanks for the heads up about Twig.
What a strange application. It's like Notational Velocity and Tinderbox had a love child! Feels like there are still some kinks to work out, and there isn't ...
For those (if any exist) who have been following my posts about Tinderbox, I've added two new ones. Find the first of these new posts here:

Wjjsoft's MyBase - New Test Build
5/19/2010
I bought and used myBase early on -- i.e. about nine years ago. I liked the feature set, but found it to be kind of buggy. I especially had issues with text formatting doing strange things. I'm sure a...
PersonalBrain 6 beta released

It would be great to be able to read Harlan Hugh's response! Can we get it approved? Thanks!

PersonalBrain 6 beta released
5/11/2010
Currently there is no problem using the same PersonalBrain database (i.e. Brain) on two computers via Dropbox as long as you close the file on one and wait for the DropBox sync to complete before open...
PersonalBrain 6 beta released
5/11/2010
I've begun using Personal Brain, which I have long toyed with, but finally purchased the Pro edition a few months ago. Four things convinced me:
1. The application is loaded with thoughtful and usefu...
How to digitalize data?
5/3/2010
Shortly after reading your post, I saw this application listed on Macupdate. I have never used it, and have no idea if it works as advertised, but it purports to capture text from your photographs... ...
So, what do you folks do?
4/30/2010
I've been in marketing communications for almost 30 years, and currently work for a small, nonprofit publisher. Copywriting has always been a big part of my job, but so has project management.
I do ...
Edwin,
I get a page saying that the page I'm looking for can't be found when I click on either of those links.

Treepad Questions

Looks like no one is using TreePad!
I love the free version, a lightweight, plain text organizer, but I never warmed up to the paid versions, which always felt stiff to me. But, truthfully, I haven't...

Thanks, Chris, for the heads up about NeO, and thanks, Hugh, for the hint about checking the 32-bit box -- I was a bit perplexed myself!

Personal Knowbase is a little overpriced at $50, but it is a mature, stable product that works exactly as advertised. It is not as sophisticated at Connected Text by any means, but it takes a lot less...
Cady,
I am in the same boat as you and Tom. I have MacBook for personal use and a PC at work. I've been trying to find a satisfying solution, and basically I've given up for now. I've got VMFusion on...
Thanks, Shattered Mind of Bob! It's always nice to get a nudge to dust off EccoPro.

Ariadne on the Move

Ah, yes. I hadn't figured out about the Locus feature. That is equivalent to a hoist and does help make the grid/tree more manageable.
You are right about the similarities with InfoSelect.

Ariadne on the Move
3/23/2010
I was intrigued by Ariadne when it was originally being developed, and I'm glad to see it is back. I do have some reservations about it. Particularly, it appears that you can't create multiple databas...

DevonThink alternative?
3/18/2010
Take the time to look at all the useful video tutorials at the web site. There are a lot of them, and they really do a good job showing all the thoughtful features that they've built into PersonalBrai...
DevonThink alternative?
3/18/2010
As Hugh implies, I do not think you will find anything quite like DevonThink that is cross-platform. I can only think of two info managers that are cross platform: PersonalBrain and Evernote. I'm sure...

One day when we we trying to come up with a description for the malady that causes so many of us to rush to install any new information management software on our computers we came up with this acrony...

Ariadne Downloaded - Excited!
3/15/2010
I recall Ariadne. It did seem quite elegant, although I remember being a little baffled by some of the functions... I never figured out what a grep was or how to use it. Still, it is nice to see that ...
Future of Brainstorm
3/15/2010
I have been in contact with the new developer a couple of times. He sounds sincere about his desire to take Brainstorm forward, but so far there has not been any evidence of this in results. I've sugg...
