Literary Machine alive......

Wow. That's a blast from the past. I was always intrigued by LM, but could never really figure out how to use it in any way that helped me write or work. I assumed there was a theory behind its design...
I don't think Scapple is intended to deal with hierarchy. It's about relationships. I suspect it sells well to Scrivener users, who can drag the notes directly into the binder. It's a handy little app...

The novelist David Hewson blogs about using OneNote in his creative writing, here:

Thank you, Alexander and Mad,
I will check out your suggestions. I knew I would get knowledgeable feedback here!!!

I suddenly realized that I made an error here. Symantec acquired GrandView and NetManage acquired ECCO. Just want to keep the record straight!

Well, that solves one of my reservations about VoodooPad, which is that it is hard to take seriously a developer called "Flying Meat."
The history of one developer acquiring an app from the original ...
Sorry for the off topic question, but I don't know anyone I trust more than this group when it comes to this kind of thing. The organization I work for needs an easy-to-use system for sharing document...
I am interested in how this works for you. Please keep us updated. Thank you.

I'd like to know what you feel is lacking in your current work flow that you expect CT to improve. CT is an outstanding all-in-one application, but I don't think it is a better writing environment tha...
For what I personally consider the best implementation of "inline" notes, see the article I wrote about Grandview several years ago:

article - simplenote alternatives
10/29/2013
Interesting that SimpleNote is no longer accepting Premium licenses. They had a recent "re-launch," but they've got to come up with some revenue source or we'll be back to the unbuyer beware scenario,...
TheBrain 8 beta
10/28/2013
I would be interested in knowing what percentage of TheBrain users are Pro Licensees only. My guess is that more and more users are doing the Combo license, which is basically an annual subscription. ...
Thanks for starting this interesting thread, Alexander. You've raised issues I was totally unaware of, though I've had a growing suspicion about cloud services for a while now. A friend and I have (on...
graphical scenario outliner

Welcome to the forum!
Just to add a couple of additional options to those all ready suggested: If you're using a Mac, give Curio a look. And if you're on a Windows machine, OneNote might be a good op...
This is what made Grandview so spectacular. It included every variety of method to expand and contract your document, so that you could always see just what you needed to see on the screen:

Interesting article for outliners

Here's an article many of us outliners may find interesting:

I'm no fan of Word, avoiding it whenever I can. But I don't really see the problem. Write your work in whatever tool(s) you find best for you, then paste it or convert it to Word when it is time to su...

It's true, of course, that if (and it usually does) the text runs off the bottom of the page in the scrivenings view, you can't see it. But Scrivener allows you to open other notes in "quick reference...
It sounds a little like you are describing the "scrivenings" view in Scrivener, where the editor will show the contents of selected items as if they were one, longer item. There was an two-pane outlin...

My three-year old review (has it been that long?!) on Mac Appstorm will give you some idea bout the fancier features of Scrivener:

askSam vs. Zoot? and vs. others
10/9/2013
One thing that I would like to emphasize about Zoot, something I think gets lost in all the talk about how inscrutable the application is: You can start using Zoot without knowing a whole lot about al...
ConnectedText v6 is out
10/1/2013
I love ConnectedText, but have not been using it much, as my workflow at the office just doesn't fit it in, and I use a MacBook for personal work. I keep trying to resurrect my use of CT, because I am...
