In its day, it was quite cool, but it hasn’t been developed or updated for several years. There are many much better options now (I’m happy to recommend some if you’re interested).

To be fair, Pages has gradually reacquired many/most of the features that were suddenly (and unexpectedly) removed.
But it’s not my favourite word processor, even though it’s pretty power...
Hot dang, yeah, micropad does look cool!
I shall have to play...
For reference purposes, it’s also worth taking a look at Ilaro (not well known, but in constant development).
And I’d second PDF Expert for editing PDFs; it does a very nice job. Just one...

Hi Alexander,
Ah, I have a somewhat idiosyncratic approach to my own writing - while I use integrated third-party spellcheckers (such as PopClip; macOS only), I also use a variety of tools to double-...
RFC - New Software Project: Infosqueezer

Well, good for you, Lothar - I think this sounds like an exciting and desirable concept.
You might want to take a look at Ilaro on macOS/iOS, a rather neat research/reference management app (with som...

… just to add to my last update on WonderPen, I’ve just discovered the little shirt-shaped icon in the bottom status bar, which allows you to customise the font colour, width of the docume...

I’m toying with a purchase; I used to love the old version, although it was horribly unstable. I like the look of some of the new features very much.
But: no iOS version… no trial version...

Hi Satis, just a couple of updates:

Sorry, I have been inaccurate in my description - WonderPen *does* import images into its own library.
The PDF export is especially impressive – detailed, crisp, precise, unlike some competito...

In common with others on the forum, I use outliner software for writing stuff. Inevitably, this means I’m also drawn to writing software (Scrivener, Ulysses, StoryMill etc.), much of which also ...
Nice idea, Dimitri - I'll try and take a closer look over the next few days.
Cheers,

Interesting app with strange name

For macOS users only, I'm afraid, because there isn't a developer website, although there is an interesting write-up on GitHub (https://github.com/haiodo/TenniarbApp).
Tenniarb is basically a mindmap...

SnowyOwl looks like a very pleasant piece of software, at a very modest price.
It appears to have quite a lot of the features of much more sophisticated reference managers - as long as you can live w...

It's pretty good. Particularly good for teams, I would say, because of the many different ways you can view projects, including the great GANTT view, plus the fact you can include extensive notes, fil...

Sorry, somewhat ambiguous. Twine is neat, but the Twinery website is possibly even neater!

Mark Bernstein's interesting take on speed also links to an interesting discussion of Twine, the open-source hypertext authoring tool.

It looks lovely.
But I no longer use web-only apps for a wide variety of solid reasons!
Are you thinking of producing a desktop/mobile version?
Write Mapper for Mac/Windows
7/30/2019
I like WriteMapper, it's very elegant. But I find it (much) too expensive for an app that doesn't have a competent search function (the quick search function only looks at topic names, which is pretty...
Messing with Devonthink

I have to agree ;-)
For simple writing, I increasingly use Novellus, a macOS app that allows you to see all text "chunks" (the app calls them "scenes") in a chapter in a single stream, or concentrate...

I feel a film coming on. Perhaps we could persuade Leonardo di Caprio to star...?
Well, the App Store and the Mac App Store have never sorted reliably by release date (or indeed, by any other filter criteria). It's a major weakness.
Notebooks 2.0 now available for macOS
7/11/2019
Okay, after a lengthy public beta, Notebooks 2.0 by Alfons Schmid is available on the Mac App Store or directly from his website (14-day trial version also available).
It's a great app, but they stil...
I quite agree - there's so much power already built in to macOS, it seems daft to reinvent it.
