Modern applications on macOS can store documents in various places. AppStore apps are sandboxed and usually store documents in ~/Library/Containers/... Other applications will store documents in ....
Thank you for locating that.
Note -- your data is encrypted only in transit and only via SSL. For data at rest (i.e., stored on their servers) the policy is silent and one must assume the default c...
Workload tracking?

The best "secret sauce" in my opinion is the David Allen advice to have an inbox, record anything that comes to mind there, and forget it as soon as you've recorded it. There's lot's of ways to have...
You cannot configure a private sync / cloud service in the basic version -- perhaps in the enterprise version, but this is not clear.
Information about security, sync storage, encryption, and privacy...
I agree with Steve, and would add to his list the ability to have multiple tabs for the same brain. This makes working with a document that has a lot of nodes very easy -- without having to spend a ...
BBEdit reaches v12
10/17/2017
As far as I can tell (being a former TextWrangler user) the features it had are present in BBEdit, the look and feel is pretty much the same, and BBEdit offers a "free demo mode forever" for those fea...

This is not going to be for everyone -- but, I use DocuWiki on my own NAS server and can access it locally and online via a private address. There are also options to get DocuWiki hosting from other...
BBEdit reaches v12

BBEdit -- a venerable text editor on macOS -- has reached version 12 with a number of new features. It is available at various discount levels depending on when you might have bought a predecessor ve...
I'd say the same -- but since they gave themselves an out by allegedly telling their customers "Atomic Scribbler is not a replacement product for PageFour" they absolved themselves of future customer-...
Process Documentation?

Yes, most BPMN software is for diagramming. Not the solution for what describe.
I agree with Dr. Andus' suggestion of ConnectedText -- what you described (navigation bar, click-through to content) ...
TiddlyWiki resurgent

I've been using TiddlyWiki for years -- so I know all about its "wonders" -- but had abandoned it because of the saving issue. V5 does nothing to fix it the problem I suppose. I get the point about...
Process Documentation?

"Document all my processes" can have a lot of nuances -- from "writing up some todo list templates" to "making formal BPMN process notation. If you are thinking more toward the right end of that spe...

Thanks for the tips Bill. I think I'm misunderstanding a few things. The new tiddlers added to a document are not saved in the document but you have to periodically export a new instance of the doc...
Great features, Andy. Hyperplan is certainly continuing to evolve.
I'm curious about how these links get orchestrated in the real world. Probably like other folk, the calendar is my overall guide ...
Scrivener 3 is on the way…

Same here. I've found Windows 10 to be pretty stable -- having used it since day one of its release -- Windows 7 was fine also -- the transition from 7 to 10 was seamless.

Word document creation

@pedbob, you didn't mention what OS you were working with. If it's Windows, you might consider ConnectedText. Or even OneNote. I wouldn't limit the export options to MS Word .docx files because ...
NotePlan

One of my favorite apps.
I've mentioned the iOS version a few times this year.

OmmWriter gets an update
9/28/2017
OmmWriter, a minimalist / distraction free "writing environment" (i.e., full screen text editor) has been updated. It's a bit difficult to tell what the update is. Available for Mac and Windows --...
New Mindmanager version - Windows only

MindManager and MindView feature sets seem comparable on paper -- for the Windows versions. MindView's Mac version has fewer feature than its Windows version. Pricing between MindManager and MindVi...
New Mindmanager version - Windows only

It's worth noting that the list price for the Mac version is 50% of the Windows version -- so I guess that means 50% smaller feature set.
New Mindmanager version - Windows only
9/27/2017
The product has been evolving since 1998. I don't recall how long the Mac version has been out, but it's probably no more than half that time frame. The Mac version has never had a comparable featur...
New Mindmanager version - Windows only

Thanks for the heads up. I upgrade MindManager every year on Windows -- it's worth the money.
But, man, the annual chore of navigating through their thicket of web sites to try to buy an upgrade. ...
