Office 2016
10/12/2015
Thanks Bill.
I'm hoping this will fix the problem I've encounted in Office 2016 -- especially Word and Excel -- of the response to keyboard input becoming excruciatingly slow.
LOL -- kind of a "save-the-topic" approach to forums, similar to those odd "save-the-date" announcements for weddings

Searching attachments in TheBrain

I was curious about this, because I recall such searches worked in olden days.
So -- according to the "Knowledge Base" for "TheBrain 8 Pro" (In reality, there is no product anymore called TheBrain P...

Evernote reinvents itself again

Aaargh -- Steve suggested $10, not "10%". (Would be great if we could edit posts here.)
Evernote reinvents itself again
10/4/2015
Very interesting article.
Up above in this thread Steve Z. suggested charging everyone 10%. Even it they lost 90% of their users with a move like that (unlikely) their revenue would increase several...
The Brain version 8 versus version 6
10/3/2015
Sorry for the rant. At tax time one often wonders "why did I buy that" ;-)
The Brain version 8 versus version 6

If would wait before buying v8 unless you really need it today. Their website explains the differences in versions -- I found v7 more of an upgrade from v6 than v8 was from v7. The basic features al...
Evernote reinvents itself again

Either losing money or their next VC round wants better margins or both.
Maybe no more selling backpacks and socks.
Notes, Sync, Search: sounds like a pretty good focus.

You didn't mention platform, but if I understand requirements (1) thru (4) correctly, then Ulysses does these things on OS X / iOS.

iPad "Surface" -- er, "Pro"
9/9/2015
Convergence in Cupertino. I'm not in the market for a new computer, but I think at this point I'd choose to pay less for a Surface and get more than what the iPad Pro offers.
Marked.app 2.5 - preview notes
8/18/2015
Marked is one of my favorite apps for OS X -- a previewer for Markdown, MultiMarkdown, Fountain and other text markup, with some very good "writing analysis tools". The author, Brett Terpstra, is blo...

This is one of those YMMV situations. You're just going to have to try for yourself, with your own kit and networks, to see how it goes.
Go make a cup of coffee and come back, all should be well ;-)
It's never clear with iCloud sync when something is syncing in the background and when it isn't. I've found the little cloud icon next t...
I've been writing a lot of articles with Ulysses recently, moving back and forth between OS X and iPad. The iCloud sync has been "reliable" but not fast. That's not The Soulmen's fault -- it's Apple...

Transpose (formerly KustomNote)

A long time ago I trialed an web based app "KustomNote" that was built templated notes (forms). It's been relaunced as "Transpose" -- better name, but has nothing to do with transposition. The site ...

I'm a fan of TapForms on the Mac (for those interested in this topic WRT that platform). I use TapForms for the purpose @zoe described. Form create, sync to iOS, and export is very simple. Export t...
