Reluctant as I am to inadvertently push any CRIMPing buttons, I feel I should mention that the Chronos app StickyBrain has recently been rewritten from scratch in Swift, Apple's new programming language (shortly to be open-sourced, I believe).

Now Chronos doesn't have the best rep for supporting stuff, despite some ground-breaking programs earlier in the Mac's evolution. But the fact that they've rewritten StickyBrain from scratch causes a flame of hope to flicker in my ever-optimistic breast...

I'll be more enthusiastic once they create an accompanying iOS app (that's better than their dismal twin for the otherwise rather nice SOHOnotes, NoteLife). But they do appear to be gradually updating their product line.

Yep, it is, especially for what's on offer. I've kindly downloaded it, so I could evaluate it and tell you all about it. And it's disappointing. The "rich text" is based on Apple's own text components, with no streamlining or attempt at user-friendliness (i.e. you can open the "Fonts" dialog box and the "Colors" dialog box, and that's your lot; no formatting toolbar, no styles etc., apart from the built-in Apple ones). There are some options available (again, using the basic Apple template) from the "Format" menu, but nothing beyond the basic.

There's no button for adding folders (you can do that from the menu or by using a key combination). In short, Apple's own Notes is much, much better. Unless you happen to want the one unique feature of this app, which is its ability to attach notes to specific apps. I haven't tested this, because I don't need it.

No tagging, no iOS app, high price... another argument for avoiding Chronos, I'm afraid.

Antnotes brings it home for $0.99 or Ghostnotes $9.99 but the extra $9 isn't worth it, IMO

On the App store it sells for $19.99 -- that's U.S -- but even at that I wouldn't buy it.

One of the best note-taking alternatives launched recently (for the Mac) is TaskCard 2.0, which is seriously powerful. Alas, no iOS client yet, but a very impressive piece of software.
