Scripting Onenote
5/1/2010
Back when I was heavy into OneNote, I really liked this site: http://www.onenotepowertoys.com/
But as I recall, all of the extensions only worked on ON2003 and 07 killed them.
I would give EN a try.
For me, the key advantage of EN for the type of notes you're describing is the speed of data entry as compared to the other options suggested (Ecco, InfoQ, Personal Brain).

Amode V2
2/26/2010
Amode v1 was a pretty great product and I will download the trial of v2. But I just can't imagine paying that $200.
Tasks vs. To-Do Items in Outlook 2007
2/25/2010
The Outlook 2007 (and 2010) Task vs. To-Do distinction drives me crazy.
In my workflow, if I want to see calendar items or emails, I will look at the calendar tab or the email tab. I don't want ema...
Public Beta phase begins for Zoot 6.0

Thanks Graham. That works perfectly. Quite impressive, really -- all formatting is retained, I guess because he's using the IE plugin.

Have you figured out how to capture a web page? I have tried 2 things:
1. copy a page and manually paste it into a "text note."
2. create a "web link" item
Option 1 works OK, except it's manual, t...
I use Evernote for most of my notetaking and grabbing web pages for future reference. Evernote is great for storing the universe. But I keep finding myself needing to search across a small set of do...
Heads up re Outliner vote @ Lifehacker
12/4/2009
I happened to have a Lifehacker login, so I gave Pierre a shout-out and voted for InfoQube.
I use Taskline (taskline.com)
It's an Outlook plugin, so you have to use outlook. Other than that, it competes with TimeTo and Above and Beyond, but without the bugs or quirkyness. Here is my work ...

New Outliner for Windows

Very nice product - the version you have posted is already very useful. One feature that appears to be missing that would be very important for me:
- Rich text paste from other programs.
For instan...
Evernotee: Whats Up?
10/25/2009
Good question, Daly.
Here's my (totally speculative guess) answer to what's up with EN. First, though a caveat: I tend to be a pollyana about software that I like - I often miss the warning signs i...
I haven't seen this mentioned here before: http://gtd.jeffsandquist.com/GTDTools.ashx
It's a fairly long list of software and websites that offer gtd-related functionality.

Summer 2009 PIM roll-call
7/28/2009
Hasn't changed much in the past year - which says something because I've tried out quite a few task managers and notetaking apps over the past year, but have not adopted any of the new ones.
Todo: Ou...
Ken,
I use ClearContext fairly extensively at work. I started using it about 5 months ago. I used the pro version until the trial ran out, and now I use the free version. The free version is mostl...
Incremental Find ?
7/14/2009
Evernote does incremental find - at least in v. 3.5 for Windows. As you type in the search field, the note list gets narrower and narrower. It's painfully slow, though, if you search in a notebook ...
what are acceptable licensing terms?
5/18/2009
To echo Steve's sentiment: The single-computer license is the worst. However, it's also the easiest to enforce. If they provide an easy way to transfer licenses, I can sometimes deal with it. My li...
Mindsystems Amode
5/13/2009
I downloaded Amode and Themereader and MindManager.
First the download saga:
I originally planned just to download CiriLab's knowledge engine on which Themereader is based, but I discovered that Ciri...
Mindsystems Amode

Wow Themereader looks very impressive. It is based on this product, which I'm downloading instead: http://www.cirilab.com/Eval_Download.htm
Mindsystems Amode

Yeah, this looks pretty impressive. 2-pane outliner. Looks like you can link between topics, and you can view the same information as a gannt chart or calendar. The best part of the product, though,...

Evernote Development

FWIW, I have gotten very prompt, courteous and complete responses from EN developers on their forum.
For instance, last week I posted a question about a bug I was seeing. EN developers responded w...
