OT: Dropbox and Skydrive encryption
10/27/2014
I tried Wuala a couple of years ago and ended up dropping it because, if I recall, their Android client was slow and/or ugly. It's interesting that they have a dual-key encryption scheme to allow sha...

I think it's foolhardy to trust any company in any country with data you really want to keep secure. The only way to ensure it's secure is if it is encrypted *locally* (on your local machine) with a ...
I'm not really sure what is being asked but I'll try to give more detail about my experience if it's helpful, although I cannot promise that it will not be old news, like the hyperlink issue in Excel,...
Panorama crashed with the first spreadsheet I tried to import.
Sorry for veering even more off-topic but for those who are interested, a colleague discovered that the spreadsheets work much faster in...
Oops looks like Panorama is Mac-only :(
Thanks all!! I'll definitely try powerpivot and panorama sheets and let you all know the outcome. I have a relatively new lenovo laptop with 8GB RAM and Windows 7 So I'm not sure what makes it so sl...
Have been looking for this for a few days and just realized maybe the CRIMP community would have some ideas.
I've been working with some large spreadsheets lately (100,000 rows, 50 or so columns). T...

Sorry one more thing about bc: you can use dropbox versioning with boxcryptor. So if I want to roll back a change to a file, I can go to dropbox and restore an earlier version (I think it keeps 5 ver...

One thing I forgot - boxcryptor released a new version (2.0) sometime in the past year. I can't recall why, but when I researched it I decided not to upgrade - so there might be something better abou...

I have used Boxcryptor for almost 2 years and I recommend it highly.
Boxcryptor is very secure because it does all encryption on the client -- your passphrase is never transmitted over the network....
Writer's Blocks Essentials

Is anybody aware of a web version of something like WB?
I like the idea of writer's blocks and SuperNoteCard but I find myself doing a lot of writing via ipad or even iphone and then synthesizing wh...

Interesting discussion.
I think there are at least 2 different objectives that people are discussing here:
1. storing and organizing documents including web pages for future reference
2. organizing n...

I do quite a bit of this too. I previously used a 3d party app to do the de-skewing but now I find that Evernote's page scanner does a decent enough job and it makes the process super fast. For inst...

I've looked at the RN/EN combination too and have come to the same conclusion as stated above - good idea, but not ready for primetime. Also, I don't want my notes tethered to one windows machine as ...
ADM -- Just What Is Going On?

They have a setting allowing you to shAre the file publicly - so anyone can access. I thought I had checked that option but I think I must not have saved the settings. It should allow you access n...

I'm a long-time fan of tools like TimeTo and Taskk. I used TaskLine, the Outlook plugin, for years. As others have mentioned, having a tool to schedule your tasks for you is something that will not w...
Check out www.taskk.it - it uses an actual calendar instead of just a grid. Also has some features missing from sandglaz like file attachments and email-in tasks. Still a bit unpolished but getting ...
