Dan,
I downloaded it and gave it a quick try. It's not very intuitive and its pretty busy. It didn't feel very good. Instinctively I saw some power there but I honestly was left asking the question, "How the hell am I going to use this thing?"
Having said that, I note this from the article you cited:
http://lifehacker.com/5196363/mindraider-organizes-and-visualizes-any-note-style
"Honestly? It's an application that would take more than just a glance and quick twiddle with to get comfortable and productive in. That sounds like a deal-breaker to most idealistic productivity minds, of course, but it looks like MindRaider can be pretty powerful, once you get your system rolling with it."
What I gave it was the equivalent of "a glance and a quick twiddle". So maybe I missed the boat.

I stumbled upon Mindraider today at http://www.freedownloadaday.com/2011/07/28/high-powered-note-taking-and-outline-tool/
The download was 35 meg. 35 meg?! I'm not going to install it.

the "changes' link shows a version 7.7 from 12/2010 but the version I downloaded was 7.6 from 2009. Either way not very encouraging.

Anyway, I tried out that version of MR out but found it somewhat dated and it did not meet my peculiar requirements. Still seeking a better PIM, having stopped upgrading Info Select at version 8.
Apologies if I have not got this post formatted correctly. It is my first post on this forum, though I have had the forum in my feed aggregator (Google reader) for some time. (I rarely actually visit the forum itself.)

Hi Slartibartfarst - thanks for posting. I also follow this forum via Google Reader, but jump from GR to the forum all the time. It's my favorite online forum. I'll give Mindraider a spin but am sure I'll end up drawing the same conclusion you did.
