Thanks for mentioning this app -- I hadn't seen it. I love the idea of the spatial whiteboards... it's a little like a web version of Eastgate Tinderbox in some ways.
There are a few mindmappers that have this functionality. For example, there's the dView plugin for Freeplane: https://www.freeplane.org/wiki/index.php/Information_management_withFreeplane_add-on_dVie...
There's also Eastgate Tinderbox. The idea that every shape has an associated rich text note, also capable of hypertext, is basically foundational to Tinderbox.
Yes, Zotero integration was added two releases ago. I don’t use Zotero so I can’t comment on how good it is.
