Collegiality 6/18/2019
Thanks Chris for maintaining this forum. I came to this forum initially because I was frustrated at the lack of decent cross platform (meaning mac desktop and iPhone) outlining software that met my ne...

Standard Notes 5/17/2019
Last I checked Standard Notes could not search within PDF attachments. I don't know about Joplin.
Checkvist recent updates 5/17/2019
I was an early user but abandoned it when it became clear that there were no plans to develop a mobile app for iOS. Has that changed?
Subscription as investment 5/11/2019
I bought a lifetime subscription to outlinely for this reason, but I regret it as I think the app will never live up to its potential. Generally I only pay for what I actually use.
One outliner for Mac, iPad, and iPhone 4/12/2019
I disagree. I see the development as mostly dealing with cosmetic changes and upgrades for system compatibility. Long term bugs and UX issues that I've reported multiple times have never been addresse...
One outliner for Mac, iPad, and iPhone 4/12/2019
I see outlinely hasn't been updated in 7 months. Pretty lame for an app that asks users to pay a subscription to support development.
One outliner for Mac, iPad, and iPhone 4/11/2019
I still think Dynalist is the best option for now. Even though the iOS app does not feel as nice as a native app, I find that it is better than outlinely for my needs.
are we the addicts of the productivity porn? 4/10/2019
The main point of productivity apps, for me, is peace of mind. If you have a system, and trust it, then you don't have to waste extra brain power wondering if you forgot something. 2Do + Fantastical p...
Mind Forger 4/8/2019
Looks interesting. Unfortunately there is no iOS version…
What are the note taking/task managing features you dont like or think they are useless? 4/8/2019
I think how useful a feature is depends less on the feature and more on the implementation and how well integrated it is into the app. Tagging in Ulysses is useless for me because it is hidden in its ...
New Apps of Interest 4/6/2019
Sorry, this is probably a better URL: https://clickup.com/
New Apps of Interest 4/6/2019
Just discovered a Todoist / Trello / TickTick alternative called ClickUp. Anyone tried it? First impression is that it is powerful but takes a bit of learning to set up the way you want. (Many feature...
interesting long piece about Evernote 4/6/2019
How is search in Nimbus compared to Evernote? Can it search in attached PDFs as well? How good is the web clipper?
I'm sad about web apps that don't work on mobile 4/5/2019
I agree. Even though Dynalist is now "usable" on iOS, the lousy web app often gets in the way of doing real work with it. I don't know about Android, but I have read that Apple is working hard to mak...
Taskade 4/3/2019
Forgot to add: Taskade also has a much nicer iOS interface than Dynalist. I don't think they will ever fully support iOS as they seem to be a web-first company.
Taskade 4/3/2019
Hi John, I have always been very active in discussing features and giving feedback on software that I use regularly; however, since Taskade does not yet meet my needs I will refrain from getting invo...
Fascinating announcement from Freewrite 4/2/2019
Experts can type in morse code at 60 wpm. Not easy to get there, but even the "normal" rate of regular users is about 20wpm which is what I suspect most people do on an iPhone... I just test myself on...
Dynalist MindMap View 4/2/2019
New blog post from Dynalist announcing this feature: https://blog.dynalist.io/2019-march-update/ Personally I find it unusable (the navigation jumps around too much. But even if I could use it, I al...
Taskade 4/2/2019
I check out Taskade regularly, but while there is a lot to like it still falls short compared with the tools I currently use: 2Do, Dynalist, and Todoist. Especially: - Lack of a dedicated notes field...
The Best Address Book App for iOS Doesn't Exist 3/20/2019
So after spending a few weeks on this, trying various solutions I settled on .... Google Keep First of all, I found that database style apps, such as TapForms or AirTable, etc. are not ideal. One of...
Dropbox Paper 3/18/2019
Been using Dropbox Paper again for a project and noticed that it has some basic folding. Headings can be folded. I know that is a big thing for some group members! Also, the paragraphs can be dragged ...
The Best Address Book App for iOS Doesn't Exist 3/12/2019
I totally endorse the central message of this Lifehacker article from last year: https://lifehacker.com/the-best-address-book-app-for-ios-doesnt-exist-1828832162 Curious if list members with iPhones...
Ulysses v15 Released 3/12/2019
The new keyword management interface is sorely disappointing. It is a pop-up window rather than integrated into the main interface, and few other changes have been made to make it easier to manage key...
New Apps of Interest 3/11/2019
I thought it might be nice to have a thread devoted to sharing news about newly released apps, major updates to existing apps, and little known apps that someone has recently discovered. In that spiri...
