I'm looking for an alternative to Word+EndNote to format and typeset (and possibly write) academic papers (no need for maths notations).
So far LaTex by way of Lyx came up as a possible replacement. ...

From the video sent to existing customers it looks like SmartDraw may have improved their concept mapping capability. In the past I would have only used SD for creating pretty charts for illustration ...

Still trialling Gingko... I've found the following use for developing and managing a project plan quite interesting, especially as the resulting plan/journal can be exported as a plain (Markdown) text...
