Single-pane outliners

Just to summarise, here is a list of outliners for Windows that are either single-pane or can be used as single-pane outliners and still seem to be available:

I keep referring to Bonsai as a single-pane outliner, as that's what I use it for, but I just realised that's an incorrect classification.
In fact, Bonsai is a three-pane outliner.
Pane 1 is the Out...

I guess Brainstorm's "namesakes" would be cloning in a single-pane outliner, although I'm not sure if Brainstorm can be considered either "single-pane" or an "outliner." So maybe what I meant was that...

P.S. Another solution might be to go for a two-pane outliner (Scrivener, Whizfolders etc.?) that can do most of those things and then use a one-pane outliner alongside if and when needed.

This sounds like the police composite sketch of a criminal who probably does not exist :) I can't think of a single single-pane outliner that can do all this.

Thanks for this, it is interesting. I've also switched to Word 2010 for final writing up, given the integration with EndNote and Dragon, and the navigation pane allows for reverse outlining. But Scriv...

So my question is: what are the main categories (on the basis of core distinguishing features) of two-pane PIMs?
I wish there was a dedicated comparison tool for two-pane outliners/PIMs only, just like there is for wikis, such as the WikiMatrix (http://www.wikimatrix.org/). The more two-pane PIMs I see, the more...
