That is a business model, but it isn’t the one Taskade claims to be using. (As they’ve discussed in several places as well as what is fairly obvious from the other features they reserve for pro.) But it is all besides the point because they still don’t even offer this basic and much desired feature to pro users!

Hm, Taskade is beginning to look quite convincing, I must say.
Anybody using this in earnest; anything interesting to say?
Cheers!

I am very sorry about the inconvenience, recurring tasks is coming very soon. It is being worked on as we speak I promise.
In addition, recurring tasks will be a free feature, we will update our pricing page soon with more details: https://www.taskade.com/pricing
Follow our progress on http://blog.taskade.com/ and https://www.taskade.com/v/B1Q8lMxIfG

I see that not only are recurring tasks still not implemented, but once
they are implemented they will be a "pro" feature which requires a $7
month recurring fee. That's disappointing for a feature that is pretty
much standard for every other task manager out there.

Taskade will have recurring tasks as a free feature, we have to update https://www.taskade.com/pricing soon.
As for how we monetize, it will be mainly for businesses and organizations.
Thanks

Recurring tasks are often included as a Pro/pay feature. That's the way
it is in MeisterTask, Trello, and also (I think) TickTick.

Thanks Paul, we are adding recurring / repeating tasks to Taskade very soon along with repeating templates, projects.
Taskade is real-time, collaborative, and allows you to create mind maps, kanban boards, with integrated messaging and video conferencing, much more than what todoist offers, and we offer all of this for free.
The paid plans are being updated soon to be even more generous, and will have an announcement soon.

Ugh. Not competitive. Todoist, for example, offers recurring tasks at
the free level, and for $3/month offers a load of features far better
than Taskade, IMO.
Maybe not fair to compare, but when pennies count, comparison shopping
pays.

Thank you. Taskade's goal is to continue to improve the product based on customer feedback for many years to come, and grow the team and product into a viable / profitable business. We are here for you.

There are many dozens of productivity apps and of course something's
going to have features in the freebie version that other apps don't. And
vice versa. I pay for Todoist, by the way, but I see plenty of people
complaining that its free tier is missing features that people want to
use.
Ultimately, all these apps offer limited tastes for free with more
useful tools for $$, while minimizing the number of long-term
freeloaders. (shrug)

With the promise of recurring tasks I decided to give taskade a try as a task manager. In the end I don't think it is for me. It seems good for people whose tasks are very project focused, but there is no way to really look at tasks across projects (unless they are starred or in the calendar). I think Todoist will remain a better choice for me for this reason, even with recurring tasks...

Taskade might be great...
However I cant get past the ridiculous icon....That would never appear on my home screen.
Simple, minimal, symmetrical...is the way to go.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you asking about the desktop app or mobile app icons? https://taskade.com/downloads
We've generally received positive feedback about the logo, though it is on the colorful side.

Thanks Pierre, always open to feedback, though logo and branding wise, it is not at the top of our current priority. We did recently redesign our homepage too on https://taskade.com - open to feedback and thoughts about it.

I had a lot of hope for Taskade when it first came out. I loved the simplicity of the interface and the cute design (including the logo), but now I just find the interface overly cluttered and difficult to use, while still missing some basic functionality I need for task management. I don't know what happened, but development seems to have gone in exactly the opposite direction from what I was hoping with this product.

Thanks for the feedback Luhmann.
What part of the task management functionalities are still missing?
We are working on a few important ones including
- add recurring tasks to due dates
- ability to see all tasks assigned to you
Appreciate it.

Those are probably the two most important missing features, and would go a long way towards bringing Taskade in line with other, similar, products.

Nice blog post on use of Taskade as a group Zettelkasten solution – I though it was rather good. It’s got wider/more general application too, of course.

That's a good start but all my reminder apps, from Dueapp.com to todoist.com offer more customization, eg setting Mon/Wed/Thu reminders. Here's what the configuration looks like for Due on the Mac.
