Did you notice that he forgot Info Select?

There are lots of things left off, as this savvy audience would undoubtedly attest. But I always appreciate the attempt to do a criterion-based analysis of some category leaders. Sometimes, the featured applications do well enough that I go back and look at something that I read about, but somehow didn't register.

Hi folks, I'm the author of the article. If you can provide a list of other outliners, I'd be happy to review them and add them to the article - It's about due for an update anyway.

Hi, Paul,
Welcome to this forum (if you haven't been here before). Here are a few suggestions for you that I think you missed:
Noteliner - one of the best Windows outliners, in my opinion:
http://www.noteliner.org/i/Main.html
Zoot - similar in some ways to MyInfo, though more powerful (and more mysterious, as the help file is still not available, but the developer swears he's working on it)
http://www.zootsoftware.com/
ConnectedText - really a personal wiki, but it is much more than that, including a nifty outliner
http://www.connectedtext.com/
Thanks for the work on your original list. It's great to see a resource like that.

Maybe WorkFlowy, Scrivener, Whizfolders and Outline 4D could also be added to this list? (Although O4D is unlikely to ever get another update, and Whizfolders also hasn't been updated for quite a while).

Thanks for the welcome - I was here a while back when I first put the list together, but I mainly lurked, gathering recommendations that I then reviewed.
I'll definitely add the new ones suggested in this thread to the list and I'll post when I have completed an update (may not be for a bit, but I will get it done.)
Thanks for any other suggestions.

Hi Paul,
please consider to add RightNote to your list.
For me it is perfect and I use it all day.

Hi,
Interesting article, thanks! May be it would be interesting if you compare online outliners, not only windows-based. Checkvist, Fargo, The Outliner of Giants, Workflowy to name a few.
Thanks!

Actually Sanjay (the developer) has recently added footnotes and endnotes to the program. I have been asking for these additions for years and they work really well in the beta he sent me. Yes, development is slow, but that is because the program is mature and very stable.

I couldn't tell from your comment which outliner just gained footnote support. Please enlighten me. That's a feature I've wanted in an outliner forever, if the footnotes can be exported to HTML.

Please consider adding NoteCase Pro, http://notecasepro.com/
I spoke with Miro Rajcic, the author. If you will drop me an email I can arrange for you to receive a registration key for the full-featured version for review purposes. My address is marbux pine @ maple gmail oak .com (subtract the trees).

Correct. It is WhizFolders.
Hi, John. I installed it but can't find anything about footnotes in either the GUI or the documentation. Can you get me started on finding that feature?
Best regards,
Paul

Sure, I'm glad to help.
The newest version of WhizFolders has not yet been released. If you have the latest installed, ask Sanjay for the update to 6.7.2. All you need do is replace the whizfolders.exe which is already installed with the one Sanjay will give you. The endnotes and footnotes feature is not in the gui. From Sanjay's instructions:
" and inserted in topic text works when exported RTF is used in MS Word (any of the Tools operations that export RTF to single/separate rtf files or to Word outline. In word outline, footnotes are not visible till you change the view."
Please understand that I am assuming Sanjay will provide you with the update. I have no reason to think he would not. He has been quite responsive and generous with me.

Thanks, Jon,
What I'm really after is footnotes in HTML export. For .rtf and other formats supported by WordPerfect, there's a macro that can convert text marked up as you describe to footnotes. http://wptoolbox.com/library/ConvertR.html But WordPerfect's HTML export sucks.
Best regards,
Paul

Hi folks, Paul, the article author here again. I just wanted to thank you for adding the suggestions of other outliners to review; I have made a note of them and will review them when I next update the article (in a few weeks). I will post on the forum when I have completed the revision.
Have a great week.
