Old timer here. Been lurking here for many years now. I was an old VooDooPad user, and waited and waited for version 6.0. It never happened. So, I built something better. If you are also an old VooDooPad user, feel free to try out my app. MojoPad 1.0
I built it with all the features VooDooPad had, and sprinkled in lots more goodies to bring it up to date. It will import old VooDooPad files just fine. No subscriptions here, just a one time payment if you like it after a free 2 week full trial. Any issues or comments, do let me know. App is fully signed by Apple.

Interesting. Thanks for telling us. I'll check it out.
I do miss VooDooPad occasionally, actually, but over the years have also found most of its features made their way into other apps. E.g., "wikilinks" have become a thing in lots of apps. Does your market research suggest there's an unmet need for a dedicated wiki app?

Hey Paul,
Definitely not an unmet need. This was more of a personal project as I had been a VooDooPad user for a very long time, dating back to when Gus developed it. I have tried all the recent apps including building my own wiki app modeled after Karpathy's post. I just had a very large VooDooPad file with thousands of files in it. I kept coming back to VP though, there was just something there that I still loved. This was the reason I decided I was going to build something similar. I knew it would be niche in todays market, but that did not deter me. I figured there would be folks out there that were in the same boat as me, thus here we are. I don't expect it to take off like a wild fire, just wanted to satisfy an itch if there were some out there that still reminisced about the old VP, and had some old document that they wanted access to using VP, but with some of the newest features in today's apps.

I think it's great to see a new desktop wiki app, especially one that can import Voodoopad documents and support the same overall functionality.

On first glance, this is an impressive app, one I am eager to try. Congratulations.

VooDooPad definitely was wonderful -- and it's wonderful to see a sort of tribute-band modern version. Especially for the case of self-publishing a wiki, which MojoPad supports. The addition of native support for Llama is interesting too -- it's not easy to do that integration in Obsidian, for example, for many users.
Kudos, Mark!

Thanks Mark, looks good! Any chance of porting this to Windows and/or Linux?

I'm particularly impressed by the static website publishing function – very nice. A search feature would be a very desirable addition, but I appreciate one can't have everything...

Just shipped an update, your request made it in there, among a couple others, and a couple bug fixes.

There is, his reference was to a site search in the published sites.

Request noted. Initial goal was really to release on the MAC platform as that is where VooDooPad was born.

If you have not looked at the AI piece, do have a peek. It is by far my favorite feature, and IMO a real anchor to the app. The ability to query AI about a page, the entire wiki, or just ask it anything about anything, then click a button to turn the results into a page. And since it runs via Ollama locally on your computer, there is no fee for credits, etc, and it stays private to just you. Such a boon for creating research articles, studying for school, building out a knowledge base wiki, or really just any articles on anything.

I bought @Mark's MojoPad app. I know I'll enjoy using it. May I suggest adding the ability to use any installed font? I rely on Atkinson Hyperlegible, and some others. VoodooPad's font limitations were an annoyance, best not retained. Also, the JavaScript web clipper is a dated approach. A real browser extension and a share sheet extension would be nice. Mermaid support would be nice, too.

I am excited by the possibilities of MojoPad, but I've run across what seems like a very annoying bug. When I come to the end of a line or paragraph, I hit enter to begin a new line, but when I start typing the cursor jumps back up to the end of the previous line, and the letters I type end up there. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Nevermind. I just looked at the What's New page and see that the cursor issue has been dealt with.

Thanks for the support. Using installed fonts will make it into the next release. Browser extension, Share sheet, and Mermaid, will be reviewed, on an initial quick review, these open a can of worms, that do not give them a quick, clear green light and warrant a deeper dive.

Yes, it was initially reported by a user. I fixed it in the next release, then ran into it again in my own testing of another feature. It hopefully was put to rest with the release last night of 1.2.2

1.3.0 Just released. New features, bug fixes. Do let me know if any issues, will work them into the current sprint, nobody likes bugs, so I get on them quickly.

Thanks for the quick turnaround and kind attention to suggestions. (BTW, the release notes mention an ability to change default font to any installed font, though the feature doesn't appear to have made it into the release)
