Miss the old VooDooPad?

Regarding the font, it made it to the picker in the toolbar in the app, but I overlooked the picker in the settings, it is already done and staged in the next release. Release 1.4.0 will likely go out middle of next week, maybe sooner. A few fixes, and a few new features, one of which was requested here and will make some quite happy, including myself :) I am always open to suggestions, so keep them coming.

Ha, yes, MPU site. I searched and found they had an old post where people were talking about VooDooPad. I thought, this is the perfect place to let people know about MojoPad. So, I posted a note in the existing, old VooDooPad post. Started to get some questions from folks, and I started to talk to them and answer questions. Then a forum member said she wished I would have created a new post. So, I did just that. Then BAM! Someone with some rights blocked that post, which triggered a warning to me. So I went and read the site rules 3 times, nowhere did I violate their own rules. So, I went back and posted again to the old VooDooPad post, letting them know what happened. Then BAM! someone, same person I am sure, blocked me for a second time, this triggers all posts to be removed and put a block on me posting. I can still view, but cannot post. A day later someone posted a new post regarding this subject, it got quite a few responses. If you read through it there is one person who very vocally states his position of blocking anyone like me who posts about his or her app. I view this as him pushing his views on the entire forum, which is not right, in addition he is claiming authority, yet I did not break their forum rules. It is the typical give someone some power and they think they are god. I am sure he is the one who blocked me. I do hope I am let back in there because there was some general interest.

Regarding this forum, I have been here a long, long time, as in many, many years, I may have posted or replied a handful of times, mostly read and like many, looked forward to what you all found to try it out. This has always been a welcoming group. I think MPU is also, except for a single or couple people that want to exert their personal views on the rest of the forum. It is sad that people are not calling him out for it, if you read the latest post about it, it is very evident who it is and how he is totally in the wrong. My only intent with this app was to provide an option to the many old VooDooPad users to upgrade since the old VooDooPad has surely been abandoned. And I can tell you there is interest. I have only begun to market, just a little, and even with that, there are many people interested. This confirms what I suspected when I decided to release it.

Thanks for the quick turnaround and kind attention to suggestions. (BTW, the release notes mention an ability to change default font to any installed font, though the feature doesn't appear to have made it into the release)

I noticed that there was a kerfuffle at another software forum and someone rudely deleted your product announcement there. I hope you find this forum more welcoming and chill.

It does make you despair of human nature, doesn't it? How weird – you're effectively offering a revitalised VoodooPad to people who love(d) VoodooPad, and some t*t decides this isn't acceptable, so you're off. Wow.
MadaboutDana 6/20/2026 6:33 am
Love version 1.30, incidentally – and am seriously impressed by the different themes. Very nice!
MadaboutDana 6/20/2026 6:35 am
Dang, I love the combined graph/note view, too – it's more coherent than Obsidian's!

I've discovered shift-command-7 --- this opens a little control to capture notes when I'm working in any context. The captured note is time & date stamped and put into a "bucket" note in the current wiki doc. Nice.

I'd say MPU dropped a little in value. There is a world of difference between initiative and abusive marketing.

Shipping 1.4.0.. Real web clipping with a real web extension. Web extension currently in review with Google, once released will let you all know. A few fixes and a real / markdown menu. Appreciate the support. Leave a review on the mojopad.app website, it helps.

Official Chrome Web Clipper just approved by Google, you can grab the link from https://mojopad.app

Thank you. The clipper also works with Brave. (Unsurprising.)

And Vivaldi. And Edge. And Opera. Cool!

Hot dang, Mark, this is really very impressive. It's much more functional and friendly than VoodooPad, while retaining the best aspects of the latter (although I think you'll probably need to put "Collections" – at the very least – into the left-hand navigation bar sooner or later; it's looking decidedly old-fashioned compared to all the stuff you've got in the right-hand sidebar!).

Cheers!

MojoPad 1.5.0 is out ?

This is a big one — nine new features — and, as always, it's a free update for everyone who already owns MojoPad. It'll offer itself next time you launch, or grab it at mojopad.app.

A few highlights:

? Command palette — hit ??P and run any command by name: switch themes, export, convert a page, jump around. No more menu-hunting.

? Page embeds + outgoing links — write ![[Page Name]] to render another page inline (great for dashboards and maps of content), and a new panel shows every page the current one links out to — the natural counterpart to backlinks.

? Make pages yours — banner covers (resize + drag to reposition), Notion-style toggle blocks and bookmark cards, and a new deep-navy Cobalt theme for the dark-mode crowd.

?? A lighter editor — an optional floating format bar now pops up over selected text (Settings ? Editing). It's the first small taste of a more modern editor I'm building toward.

Plus: local .html files now import as clean, readable pages instead of raw source.

As always — local, private, yours, no subscription. A lot of this came straight from your suggestions, so thank you for following along and for all the feedback.

write ![[Page Name]] to render another page inline
Sorry, doesn't work for me in 1.5.0
Would be great -- I use transclusion a lot

Confirmed bug. 1.5.1 just went out. Let me know if anymore issues.

Hm, no, just downloaded 1.5.1, and I'm not seeing an embed. Maybe because of folders?

Ah, weird. It's just embedded, after I converted the page to markdown and then back to rich text... not quite sure how I did that. I'll see if it's reproducible...
MadaboutDana 6/22/2026 2:27 pm
And now the embedding is consistent! Great stuff.
Paul Korm 6/22/2026 3:50 pm
Didn't work in 1.5.1 but the document I was using had lost the ability to toggle from markdown to formatted. Created a new doc, and embedding works.

Will you be adding a Safari extension?

Big update coming to the graph, in addition to some other goodies. Release 1.6.0 dropping tomorrow. Keep the suggestions coming, I am noting all of them. Some will be released soon, others later.

1.6.0 released. Big update. Tomorrow 1.7.0 drops, another big update. Big additions to the graph among other things. 1.7.0 brings additional graph changes and much more. Updates will now be spread out a bit more. I really pushed these 2 updates to get a list of things sent out. Let me know what you all think.

A couple things broke in 1.6.0, so I pushed 1.7.0. Enjoy, lots of BIG updates. Be sure to check out the docs for all the new updates.

If you have not yet installed Ollama and set up a few AI models, some of the new features in the graph will not work, you will see a message at the bottom of the screen that says you need to install an embedding model. This means Ollama. Ollama is free and downloading the models are free. This lets you use AI free on your computer, no tokens to purchase, and all your data stay local to your computer. Many of the new graph features need AI to take advantage of them. They are really neat features, so I recommend you look at Ollama, you won't regret it. The instructions for setting up Ollama are in the MojoPad docs. You also need Ollama for the Ask AI feature in the right hand pane of MojoPad, this is another game changing feature in MojoPad. Lastly, check out the Cobalt Dark theme with the animations in the graph, it is very cool IMO. And have a look at the new Harvest theme, it turned out quite nice.

When you start to get a large collection of notes, the real game changer is semantically connecting the dots and exposing unknown connections in your data/files. For those of us that had very large VooDooPad knowledge bases, this is applicable to us. In the newly updated graph, with Ollama installed, these connections are exposed and open a new view into your files and how the information is connected. MojoPad can now function as a second brain, with the latest feature set. Let me know what you all think.

With 1.8.0 I am unable to import any VoodooPad document correctly. Sometimes MojoPad skips most of the content of the source doc and stops importing after a few pages. Sometimes it imports but pops up messages like "9 skipped", without telling what was skipped and why. Sorry, but import seems to be iffy. I enjoy the project and its progress for new documents, but to transfer legacy data its not reliable at this point.
