I'm not sure. I don't think Gmail can tell a Gspace file from any other piece of email. It seems to interpret all of my files as email attachments.

I uses a Firefox add-on called Gspace, which allows you to treat Gmail as an FTP server. I backup all of my important files to Gmail using Gspace.

I too use Google notes and find it very useful. I also breathe more easily because my notes are stored on Google's servers and not on my hard drive.
