When you launch Noteplan, a message will pop up telling you of an update (no extra cost). Click on it, and you will get Noteplan 2 downloaded to your Mac.
It’s not quite on the App Store yet. If you go to the App Store, Noteplan will have a little cloud icon. Install it, and it will go through its routine, but the cloud icon will go back to a cloud icon.

That’s he release candidate, likely identical to Noteplan 2. However, when the final v2 is going to be released, the upgrade is 9.99$

I believe that there will be a 20% discount for about 24 or 48 hours… or so I infered from an email from Eduard.

I just realised there is a different behaviour depending on whether or not you had the beta installed in between, at least if the v1 was the MAS version. On one machine I did, which resulted in Noteplan not opening after the latest update. The previous one offered the update for 9.99$, the current (MAS version required a complete deletion and reinstall, upon which I am seeing the behaviour the OP reported. Version 2 installs and no announcement of cost is to be seen.
A bit confusing perhaps and I am not sure if that is all, I’ll simply wait and see how it pans out.
Noteplan is nice and polished and fulfils its purpose well enough, nevertheless I am considering going back to orgmode.
