ConnectedText vs. Scrivener
3/7/2012
If you can emulate it with some other program, that's your best bet for a performance boost. There's a huge difference in the comprehensiveness of various virtualizers.

"Excpetion: advice on women from JBFrom."
Hahaha, touche.
Anyway, what's to tell? They all just want a guy with a huge collection of PIMs.
ConnectedText; any case studies?

You're probably right. CT would be faster, and more configurable... and easier, I think anyway.
Why are there so few videos of CT? I counted two. It's hard to know what you're getting into.
That's very interesting Steve, how a contact centric business can alter your PIM needs. I hadn't thought of that. I can see Chaos Intellect making a lot of sense.
Notetab looks like a very useful al...
Man Chaos Intellect that brings back memories, I'd totally forgotten my attempt to live in it years ago.
Is there any place where I can read about your workflow, Steve? I'm curious how you use Zoot ...

Stephen, do you know when MaxThink was invented? I can't find the date. I'm trying to figure out who invented the mark sort technology for outliners.
I take this question to mean what software would cause you the greatest pain if it were suddenly unavailable. Here's my ranking:
1. BrainStormWFO -> MaxThink (ouch)
2. Ubuntu -> Windows or Red Hat (...

Ok, I found the answer to my question, in vast detail, here: http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/1506
It's from outlinersoftware.com originally

In the interest of avoiding the appearance of threadjacking for commercial purposes, let me point out that there are several other programs that defy the conventional categories:

two pane outliner question

This is an interesting question to me, because it highlights what I perceive to be the insufficiency of the one-,two-, and three-pane outliner distinction.
Here's how I understand the definitions:

Ok Alexander, I understand now. I was reacting to the negative arguments in the links.

Alexander,
I understand that the topic of cognition is quite complex, and I am not making any claims about structuring lists, writing longtext documents or designing layouts.

Thanks for the kind words and catching that error, Dan.
I made a couple of technical errors on the latest BrainStormWFO page with image and page URLs. Consequently, many people couldn't view the pag...
Tom, the new version of the BrainStormWFO page is entirely focused on what makes the program unique from all the other categories of PIM, with specific product comparisons. http://brainstormsw.com/out...
MaxThink ran fine for me in Wine.
I've posted a new landing page for BrainStormWFO (soon to be renamed BrainStormSW).
The page goes into detailed comparisons with the major competing design archet...
OK, apparently the description on the maxthink thread was wrong, it cannot do dual pane, it can only de-hoist. So it's still a second best option, plus the lack of undo hurts.
Graham: Yes I intend to try to do something like that. Right now it's just a collection of blog posts I've written. Synthesizing something like this down to a clear exposition for beginners is more ch...

I have written a new post directly comparing GTD to Cyborganize. It explains what concepts I've borrowed, and where I've differed and why.
This might be a less confusing way to introduce Cyborganize...
Thanks Steve. Cyborganize's presentation still has a long way to go, and I'll be acting on all the valuable feedback I've received here.
I think I've made major progress in a short time though... it...

Chris, thanks for your excellent questions. You are clearly understanding what I'm talking about and grappling with the why's and wherefores. Some of your ideas (chronological tracking using namesakes...
