Have you tried changing the directory settings under Windows to "show all files?" Maybe Windows thinks the outline is some kind of system file and is automatically hiding it. Also, when you're in VM, ...
I'll definitely upgrade. CintaNotes is one of the best and most useful programs I've ever tried.
It's extremely ergonomic, for one thing. You never have to take your hands off the keyboard for anythin...

If the config file is in C:\Max, but MaxThink can't find it, maybe you need to add the path C:\Max to autoexec.bat or config.sys or one of those system files. I can't remember what system files Window...

The only description of the MT file extension I've been able to find describes it as a "miscellaneous file type," which is useless and probably doesn't apply in this case.
I'm just guessing, but it's...
Voice recorder hardware

When I read Alexander's linked post, I was amazed to see that he was actually using TEN different programs to manage his information. Is this the normal situation for other forum users?

"CRIMPing is another manifestation of Boys-and-their-toys syndrome"
I disagree. CRIMPing is actually a form of compulsive shopping disorder, which effects both males and females.

Writing tools for complex storytelling

I get the impression that you're worrying about structure--an abstract concept--when you should be focused on specific details.
"Threads, storylines, surface, depth, structure, etc." are all abstract...

Reading back through your post, it seems I didn't quite understand your problem. If you're talking about mixing all these different threads into one continuous narrative, this is completely different ...

After trying every outliner, timeliner, mind-mapping application and "writer's program" ever created, not to mention things like old-fashioned index cards, I've decided that there is no good solution ...
Thanks for the link.
Is there any question about this being a legitimate site? I'd like to download a copy of Steganos, the encryption software, but the download page is on some German site and I can...
>How do you actually find something in there? I can't imagine fast forward audio working for the ear as images do for the eye.
Good recorders have digital-pitch-control playback which lets you play a...
I'm completely sold on using voice recorders to make fast notes. I carry one around with me all the time and I'm constantly dictating reminders, task lists, memos, etc. It's really fast and efficient ...
In the interests of killing time when I should be working, I have to point out that most of the items on this list don't meet the basic requirements described in the opening paragraph. Dropbox, iCloud...
I've been using two monitors for a long time now. Can't imagine working any other way. It's the best thing I've found for efficiency and productivity.
My setup is basically a laptop with a second ema...
"Firstly, I did my research. The Nuance website has plenty of graphs on the best voice recorders for their software. I eventually went with the Philips Black Digital Voice Tracer 0660 - an inexpensive...

If the woman who wrote that Amazon review was only getting 50 per cent accuracy with Dragon, then something was really wrong with her setup. Most likely, it was her equipment. I'm guessing...

I usually transcribe my recordings into DragonPad, the text editor that comes with Dr...
I think the fastest and easiest way to take notes from books, newspapers, etc., is to use a digital voice recorder and then transcribe your audio notes with Dragon Naturally Speaking.

I've been running Atlantis on a USB memory stick for a long time now. Works great.
Another qualification: I'm not thinking of so-called "writer's software" like Scrivener, just about regular word processors like Word, WordPerfect and so on.
As far as I can tell, Word is the only word processor (for Windows) that comes with an integrated outliner.
Is this actually true? Is anyone aware of other integrated word processor/outliners? I'm t...

I'd suggest posting the same question on the Knowbrainer.com forum. They specialize in voice recognition and could tell you what apps, if any, are available for the Android that might do what you want...
