I mean that in the best positive way. This place reminds me of the internet of the late 90ies, early 2000s when the Internet was mainly used by academic types, the Mac was still called the Macintosh and outliners were all the rage.

Like some of the products that we talk about here and use, I tend to think of the forum as an extension of my brain. I frequently search for old posts when I need some information from past discussions. It is quite a helpful feature of any good forum with search capabilities.

Totally agree – a rather wonderful, nostalgic timeline with brief (and sometimes lengthy) mentions of a wide variety of in-their-time iconic products... ah, Blackwell Idealist; ah, Ecco Pro; ah, askSam...

I've just rediscovered this excellent list by Chris Murtland, compiled back in 2008: (https://www.outlinersoftware.com/messages/viewm/4179

I was always fond of InfoSelect, which had a lot of potential, but was too expensive and a bit esoteric. I find that it still available:

https://www.miclog.com/info-select/

A new purchase is $279, however. And I don't think it has been updated in a decade or more.

Does anyone care to check how many of those links still work? :-)

I had the same question. I did a random sample of 5 from the commercial group and 5 from the freeware group. None of the commercial links sampled were still active. Four of the five freeware samples were. I thought it interesting.

And of those links that still worked, which programs will still run on a current OS?

This forum isn't just a time capsule, it's a great community. I appreciate the chance to hang out here.

It is a great community, and a great brain trust as well. I appreciate the thoughts, suggestions and feedback that are shared here.
