@satis
I started this new thread so as not to hijack the security thread.
I have rarely -- at least not in recent years -- been as enthusiastic about software as I am of Legend. It has really "sync'd" with my brain, I think. The more I use it, the more impressed I am. It isn't perfect, but the developers continually improve it.
It's Google-centric only in that its calendar syncs with Google Calendar. But you don't need to do this. I don't use Google Calendar, by my iCalendar syncs with Google and consequently with Legend. I've only just started using the Legend calendar more, so I may uncover some inconveniences, but so far so good.
I've written about Legend a few times on Medium. Here are links to those articles:

They should give you a good idea of how it works... or at least how Legend works for me.

I keep taking another look at Legend, and it is remarkably powerful. I need to sit down with it for an extended session.

I tried Legend two or three times before it finally connected with me. For me, it was definitely worth the effort.

A correction: When I said the only Google-centric feature of Legend is the Google Calender sync, I had forgotten about the email function, which only syncs to Gmail. I just want to make that clear.
Carry on.

Legend just created a pretty sweet update.
Inferred heirachy.
outliners of all descriptions that want to be taken seriously for writing environment... take note! and bullet points!
it just means that kinda like folding text, headlines infer the same as indent. it reminds me of those days when markdown was first rendered inline, rather than two-pane... kinda feels just right.
about the only thing i miss, is the daily note that so many platforms do.. I'm sure theres a way to proxy that feature in Legend, perhaps Steve can help me figure it out? Either way Legend is getting kinda a LOT of detail and is becoming a powerhouse to utilise but a also, kinda a wobbly bike to ride!

I feel like there should be a way to achieve a daily notes style view using the group by date created view. But this doesn't seem to work quite right. Even when I start with a new document, this view still pulls in notes from other documents. It's kind of confounding.
I've created a work around approach to daily notes by making a list of days headings after importing the list into my bullet journal document. This works fine, but has kind of locked me into this approach... for example, if I try to switch to a date created view, it shows all those headings as being created on the same day... which they were, the day I imported them.
This is probably confusing. I am going to suggest that they create a specific daily notes view and see what happens, because I agree that would be very helpful.

Yeah,
I get all of that! it's so close and yet so far! even that a calendar entry might open as a working page would work, but not.... quite... able..
Still stuck with legend. After so many years using a pro sub, they change to legend and my best option is the lifetime deal.... but that would see me paying out nearly $800 as it stands now. Do I like that option, is legend worth THAT much?

Hi,
I am and old-fashioned type of computer user and therefore my maybe strange question for some of you here:
Can you easily and properly print an outline from Legend?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Dominik

From the pricing page, I had the impression that one could try the premium features. No matter why I try, I can only access the free version. Is this possible, or does one have to subscribe to see them working?

I am just going by my memory, so I might have it wrong, but I think when you sign up for a paid plan, the first month is free and you can cancel without ending up paying anything.

I had the same issue - was really useful in NotePlan. My solution was to create a years' worth of dated entries in Excel, formatted as Day, Month Year. I then pushed it into BBEdit to get proper carrier returns after each entry. I then pasted the list into the Journal in Legend. I set each month as a project. This allows me to focus on a smaller part of the list. Once the Excel file is set up, I keep it and will do the same thing each year.
It only takes a few minutes to configure an entire year with zooming down to the day level, if I want. I then put a calendar next to the outline and it's very useful.
You can play around with the display preferences and tweak them to suit your needs. The more I use it, the more useful it becomes.I decided to get the Google calendar, contacts and email into the mix but it can be very powerful without Google connections.

Looks like Legend raised the Basic Plan to $7/month (or $60/year prepaid, up from its initial $48), but temporarily dropped the Lifetime (Pro) Plan from $399 to $349. (Since the Pro Plan is $108/year it pays for itself after just over 3 years.)
I'd consider the Basic Plan myself, but given my current app subscriptions it would not be affordable to switch to Legend even for $48/yr for a Mac-only app. If I were to use an app like this I'd really need access and sync to my iPhone.

I think the fact that it was known as moo.do for a time has made it difficult to find. I'm having trouble finding how you install it, though it is listed here:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/legend-moo-do/id889830074
It says "This app is available only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad." I don't know what that means, but I couldn't find it on the App Store. I do have it installed on both my iPhone and iPad.
I'm going to reach out to the developer to see what the deal is.

I searched the App Store on iPhone for "legend moo do" and found the Legend app. The list didn't automatically populate; I had to press the Search button to get results. The app is listed as Legend (Moo.do).

On the iOS app store, search for Moo.do. It's really Legend. You can install it on iPhones and iPads and they sync with the Mac app, which must be downloaded from the developer, including the Windows version.

Hi, Legend developer here. We're able to update the app in the background without requiring a full app store update. That way we can get updates out instantly instead of waiting days for Apple to approve them. The downside is that it appears in the App Store like it's rarely updated. The iOS app is not quite as good as our web/desktop versions right now but we are planning to make some big improvements in the next few months.
