Until today I hadn’t heard of any sales on outliners or in-app purchases on productivity software, but I just received an email from the Mac app Writemapper: “We wanted to let you know that for the next seven days only, we’re running our first and largest sale to date on all our desktop license tiers. During this sale, you can get WriteMapper licenses with savings from 20% to 60% off our regular prices.”
https://writemapper.com/store/
Their license is based on a per-computer install, of which I’m not a fan. As I’m planning to get a new M1 Mac within six months I can either choose to save $10 today and not install the app until next year, or spend $50 on a 2-computer license on sale, neither option being particularly appealing for an app that for me isn’t a must-have. But it’s still a beautiful and interesting mindmap/outliner with outstanding export options (including OPML, Word, PDF, Markdown and HTML.
If you run across any deals please post them.

Just to mention—iThoughtsX on macOS, in conjunction with the Marked 2 utilty from Brett Terpstra, can do a very similar thing to Writemapper. Compose in iThoughtsX while Marked 2 watches the file and provides output in multiple formsat.

I’ve owned iThoughtsX for years. It’s the most powerful mindmapping Mac app I’ve used, and I’ve migrated to it for occasional use ever since MindNode (which I preferred for its ease of use) moved to a subscription model. But I use it reluctantly because it’s not as transparent or pleasant to use. Powerful yes, though.
I also own Marked 2, but I hesitate to use it with iThoughts because of the clunk-factor.
WriteMapper is a very good looking app that’s easy to use, beautiful to look at, and has the export features built in. And it’s cheaper than iThoughts+Marked.
I’d more seriously consider it if I did more mindmapping, but I prefer to write blocks of text in outline format for most things.
If I were more focused on mindmapping (and export) I’d probably subscribe to MindMeister, which has the good looks (and much the same color palette) as WriteMapper. It also has a nice one-click toggle to Outline Mode… yet those modes are never as good as a real outliner.

Devonthink is 25% off on all their products this weekend.
Devonthink isn’t an outliner, but you can use it as one. As much as I want to find something flashier, I keep coming back to it.

Appsumo https://appsumo.com/ has many Black Friday lifetime offers, most of which are unrelated to what we usually discuss in this forum. Two which may be of interest are:
- Clinked https://appsumo.com/products/clinked/ is a collaboration workspace which I have used in projects and found quite intuitive
- Spreadsimple https://appsumo.com/products/spreadsimple/ is for quickly creating and managing catalog websites using Google Sheets
