My primary go-to Evernote replacement, Notejoy, now has bi-directional linking:

Hi, Franz,
I just tested the new linking features in the Windows desktop app and it seems to work fine.

Hi Steve.
Strange. I have vs 1.17.0, which is the latest version. And linking does not work as described. It does not work in the web edition, either.
Very strange.
I'll contact them tomorrow.

Hi Steve.
I described the problem in the Notejoy group on Facebook. There a user (or Notejoy support guy) asked about the keyboard mapping I use. Looks like they already are aware of the problem.
Because: Linking does work. But only if I switch to the English keyboard mapping. Then pressing SHIFT+ twice enters [[, and then I can select the note I want to link to.
But only then. Entering [[ with the German keyboard mapping or pressing SHIFT+ twice does not work.
We'll see what solution Notejoy comes up with.

Thanks for the update, Franz. I hope they get it sorted for you soon. It's a nice feature.
