I wish the screenshots in the store showed at least one folded node to show that it's possible, as it's not mentioned in the app's description.

I installed the Windows app. It does folding: When you click on the triangle to the left of a node, the sub-nodes to the right are collapsed.
I just played with it for a few minutes. The app is still an alpha version. There is a short "What is Dashword" document including a list of keyboard shortcuts (navigaton, node creation and manipulation) but no more information (no pricing, no nothing). No feature to get data out of Dashword (no Save command, just an Export command that saves the file in a proprietary format, copy&paste works only for the node one selected, not for the sub-nodes).
So: very rudimentary at the moment.

I was able to install Dashword from the App Store. It does indeed handle folding. But it is very spare. It apparently has no keyboard shortcuts at this time to indent or outdent (or anything else). To indent a node you have to manually click on the button that says "outdent" and to outdent you have to click on the button that says "indent." Yes, that is true.
The export button only allows you to export the outline you're working on in what I can only assume is a Dashword file format, because the file has a .dash extension.
In short, it feels like this is a Beta (or even Alpha) version that still needs a lot of development. There's some promise here, but who knows if it will be realized?

Thanks for mentioning the document that provides keyboard shortcuts. I missed that.

It’s quite a nice little app, I must say. The most significant lacuna is a search function.
Having said that, I’ve just launched it (on macOS), and it’s not working at all. Hm. How irritating. Still very much an alpha!

Wow, @Stephen Zoli, how do manage to find such great apps with obscure names?! :) I am also playing with Dashword and it seems to be the best replacement for Tree. I hope that the developer keeps on developing Dashword. It is off to a great start!

I spend way too much time hunting around for interesting apps.

I agree that the app is really in Alpha, though for the price (free) I'm willing to give it some slack. The intro document in the app lists key-commands but they are not available from the menus, which is a user-unfriendly (and un-Maclike) design choice, apparently related to his decision to make it 'compatible' with 50 languages in various App Store locales.
Since it's simultaneously available for Windows and its 93Mb size I assume it's an Electron app.
Hard to tell how often it's updated. Can't find that info on the Mac App Store page, which usually has it.
Here's to hoping the developer continues with development and polishes the rough edges

From my obserations of the Mac App Store I've concluded that when there is no update version date/info it means there has only been an initial release and no subsequent ones.

I believed that as well, but the MAS download is v. 1.2.37 and I suppose I'd expected something closer to v1.0
