I've found this relatively new online note application called Supernotes, and it doesn't appear as if it has been mentioned here. I am attracted to Supernotes because it uses a note card metaphor for capturing the notes. Creating a note is relatively straight forward using markdown or the pop-up elements tool. What sets Supernotes appart, I think, is the way you organize your notes.
First of all, it does linking and backlinking. It also does tagging. You can make a new note a child of an existing note. But not all notes show up in the sidebar. If a note is open, it is in the sidebar along with any child notes it might have. But you can choose to hide a note from appearing in the sidebar. The whole idea seems to be to encourage you to make your notes very granular, but to guard against overwhelming your sidebar, it can be restrictive.
The tool is primarily built for students and collaboration, but there is no reason that it it is only for students.
This is not an endorsement of Supernotes. I'm not sure it works for me. I just thought I'd alert the forum to its existence and see what others think. Here's the link:

They're planning a graph view of notes, ala Obsidian or Roam.

Free "Starter" plan is 40 cards plus 20 per referral
"Unlimited" is $11 per month or $100 per year.

My first thought is always "I wonder how well it performs and searches at scale" - can it handle 1 / 10 / 100 thousand cards?

Steve, Thanks for the introduction to Supernotes.
Mindola's SuperNoteCard is still going strong -- since 2004 and a complete remake of the app around 2015 or so.
It is free for a limited numbers of projects and cards, but unlimited for $19 per year.

Wow, that takes me back – I used to use the desktop app regularly as a copywriting tool. But now it appears to be restricted to online only. Shame.

I thought of Super Note Card when I first learned of SuperNotes. But two very different apps.
How many of you remember that Super Note Card was first called Miss Lonely Notes?

Yes, indeed! And I think it still uses the story of The Three Little Pigs as a demonstrator (though I'm sorry if it has moved to online-only - I used to use it as a handy off-line outliner more than ten years ago).

Still wondering if anyone has experience with Supernotes. They recently issued version 2, which seems to me to be a much improved version.

Hi Stephen - I remember Miss Lonely Notes. If I recall correctly that choice of name got kicked around on OutlineSoftware. A play on Miss Lonely Heart, the name seemed strange. However, I often wondered whether the name was effective in terms of marketing the software.

I started using Supernotes extensively after Supernotes 2.0 was released. It is the best note-taking app for me after trying nearly all note-taking apps I could find (Notion, Obsidian, Craft, Roam, Logseq, Workflowy, Dynalist, Clover, Amplenote...).
I like its flexibility. I can organize cards with hierarchy (i.e. parent and children), and a card can have multiple parents. It's also possible to organize with tags and colors.
It has one of the best code blocks in all the note-taking apps I've tried.
What makes Supernotes stand out for me the most is its "Daily Collections". I can never figure out how to use Daily Notes in Obsidian, Craft, or Amplenote because I don't like project-related notes to be scattered in time-stamped files. It is still a mess even though those notes can be found with backlinks. Supernotes automatically organizes the notes with the same creation date into Daily Collections. I never have to worry whether to put my notes in a Daily note or in a project note anymore.
