Tinderbox 8.5 is out and includes some nice new features -- including a "Cross Tab" view for evaluating values in attributes associated with notes.
Nifty.

This is a stellar update, especially the geographic adornments feature. I've had problems with Tinderbox in the past with trying to use large city maps as a way to orient notes; the program would slow down with very large images. This totally solves that issue, and makes Tinderbox more useful for something it's naturally well suited for.

A new release, version 8.6, adds several more interesting features to Tinderbox -- from Eastgate's release notes
https://www.eastgate.com/Tinderbox/updates/Tinderbox86.html
"Ziplinks
Making a link in Tinderbox has always been as easy as drawing a line from one note to another. Now, ziplinks provide a new way to make links and new notes. Type [[containment]] and you’ll get an instant text link to the note named “containment”. If that note doesn’t exist, Tinderbox makes one for you. Perfect for brainstorming, ideal for conferences and lectures, and unmatched for sustainable zettelkasten -style note files. As you type, Tinderbox displays a list of suggestions. Pick a note from the list and make your link even more quickly."
"Links Pane
The new Links pane slides up from the bottom of your Tinderbox window to show the note’s:
inbound links
outbound links
suggested link destinations
Select any of these for a preview, double-click to navigate. The links pane slides back with you don’t need it and it's always ready for you when you do."

Ziplinks sound suspiciously like wikilinks - but hey, I guess all brands need a bit of extra sizzle...

Thanks for the update. From my perspective, this is huge, and could finally make Tinderbox, which is already my favorite outliner, into the ultimate personal wiki/zettelkasten. (Unfortunately, I've been without a Mac for the last six months, so for now I'm using Roam Research, which is also great in its own way.)

Dude, you got it right. It's all in the image.

(I now see from Mark Bernstein's blog and the Tinderbox forum that the new linking features come in response to requests to implement Roam-like functionality in Tinderbox. It's great to see this sort of cross-fertilization. And it's impressive to watch the continued pace of Tinderbox development.)

but it's only web.

Agreed, the speed at which this cross-pollination happened is really nice to see.
I'm having a lot of stability issues with the new geographic mapping functionality from v8.5 though. For now it seems only suitable for light use.
