New blog post from Dynalist announcing this feature:
https://blog.dynalist.io/2019-march-update/
Personally I find it unusable (the navigation jumps around too much. But even if I could use it, I always preferred “flat” outlines to mind maps. I guess I tend to work with large amounts of text and mind maps aren’t very good for that. I really would much prefer they had worked on a “presentation view” instead…

I can see what you mean. I don’t see working in the mindmap view, but it might be useful as an overview, to quickly find and navigate nodes. This is a feature Milanote desperately needs.
And at least they were working on something. I was worried they’d started resting on their laurels.

It’s an interesting view. Though, other than showing parents and children, it does nothing. On my laptop the view is hypersensitive to gestures on the trackpad—the zooming in and out makes me seasick a bit :-)

Gah, waste of development. I wish they implemented the popular “flat list” software suggestion on their development trello instead of doing this. The flat search list would allow them to be one of the best and most flexible task managers around.
I tried mindmaps, I really did. I feel like they are worthless compared to flat outlines. All they do is take hierarchical data and make it messy. Complex concept maps similar to Tinderbox though is something completely different and actually seems to hold value over an outline.

Their first mind map attempt was jarring, with topics bobbing around the screen. This version is better. And although for longer form writing I prefer the outline view, I like the jump to mind map as a way to tap into the right side of the brain. I look for balance, for what’s missing.
I don’t know if I’ll use this feature or not. But I appreciate it. The visual view is useful.
