Though it may seem that the Polywick/Ecco is top of mind for most folks on this forum ... it's not actually the case.

Please, when you post, use an informative name for the thread.

"alpha 0.90.158 released (3/9/19) - first full 64-bit build" -- means nothing
tightbeam 3/9/2019 5:57 pm
Has anyone actually downloaded and tested the software?
airchecklover 3/10/2019 12:42 pm
Paul, thanks for feedback. I'm obviously still learning the ropes. Better suggestion for title?

Has anyone actually downloaded and tested the software?

There are bugs being fixed.

What's your beef?
There are DUAL digital signatures - SHA1 and SHA256 on the EXEs.
Do you need more counter-signatures?

What more do you need?

This guy's back again...

Since this is a forum where people talk about outliner software, I figure I'd ask whether anyone had downloaded and tested *this* outliner software, and if so, their opinion of it.

Bug reports and virus scans aren't the same thing.
Paul Korm 3/10/2019 8:22 pm
Hmmm. You know, I did happen download and try your software when I first saw @tightbeam's post at the head of this thread. (I would have titled the thread "Polywick alpha is now available" FWIW)

But ... I don't think I will explain what I thought of it, because this sort of out-of-band angry post from someone who's trying to sell something is ... just ... passing strange. And off-putting.

Not someone I'd be pleased to support with my dollars. (Go ahead, yell at me.)

I meant the thread started by @airchecklover, not @tightbeam. Sigh.

Is there a beta available to download?

Now an alpha is available for download. You can't download, or just coming here to post nonsense?

sort of out-of-band angry post from

Of course I am angry... I get nothing but sarcastic comments, and the tone is setup like, as if I'm the wrong person, selling.

Stated:
You did not send a single beta to any of them here. - We actually did. Yet this fact was ignored.

Why he does not send the beta as he promised?

Now a beta is public. What's wrong? Too lazy to download, and continue posting nonsense...

@Polywick Studio

Do you realise this is probably the top forum in the world for your type of product?

Your main potential worldwide customer base is watching you argue with potential customers.

A number of people have mentioned it already that your communication style is turning them off.

The customer is always right, even when they're wrong. Why?

Because there is no benefit to your organisation or your product from 'winning' an argument with a potential customer in public.

You'll end up losing more customers.

Just let it go, focus on the product, create a positive public image and provide good customer service.

BTW, I'm not having a go at you or anything. This was meant as friendly advice. I wish you good luck with your project.

I think you should quit developing sotware and start with a law office.

This thread is hilarious to me.

This forum is one of the most civil, thoughtful places on the internet... and then there is this thread!

It amazes me that a new poster would not first review the 'tone' of a forum, and instead just barge in, shouting, threatening and what-have-you.

It's quite remarkable.

To save you the effort of actually reading it - it's the one about protecting freedom of speech.

There's that, and there's also the distinction between stating an opinion and stating a fact. If opinions were actionable, film reviewers, software reviewers, et. al., would be in hot water all the time. So, you can say "this software sucks!" but not "this software is crippled and won't run" (if, in fact, it isn't crippled and does run, and you knew that). I'm pretty sure I know what I'm taking about, unless things have changed since the early 1990s when I got my law degree and passed the bar...

But please don't discourage Polywick. This really is fun!
