iMindMap 11 is out -- buggy

iMindMap 11 was release yesterday. Some of the new views are interesting (radial, "org chart" hierarchical). On macOS the app is extremely buggy, hangs, and uses an extraordinary amount of memory. All signs of software that might not have been properly tested before it went to market. On Windows 10 things run smoother. iMindMap has always been better on Windows, in my experience. The versions with all the features are very dear. Upgrades are costly, too. If you have a prior version, stay with it, in my opinion.

This has gotten to be par for the course with respect to major upgrades from iMindMap. In years past, I have always left the previous version on the computer until they work out all of the bugs. It may take months, so consider your current iMindMap 11 to be the one you use 3-4 months into a future iMindMap 12. I had hoped that this newest update would have been more bulletproof; it seemed to be released months after the initial publicity went out.

Unfortunately, on Mac OS iMindMap 10 (the previous release) frequently stops working and needs to be reinstalled (some incompatibility due to the progression of Apple Mac OS updates - High Sierra).
So ... how much worse could v11 be?
Also, to give credit to the developer, they usually have a rapid cadence of fixes after each release, and the built-in update functionality works well.
Agreed on steep update prices (for Ultimate in my case).

Didn't Mindjet's mindmap used to be called Mind Manager? Is iMindMap just a rebranding or is it a different product?

Mind Manager was deveolped by Mindjet (now part of Corel).
iMindmap is the "official" mindmapping software, Tony Buzan was involved in creating the software.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me, Franz. Somewhere on the net I saw reference to Mindjet when I searched for iMindMap and made an assumption. Thanks, again.

As an avid iMindMap 10 Mac OS user (Ultimate) I optimistically downloaded the version 11 trial before opting in for the hefty upgrade -- here are my findings so far.

On the up-side the new features are very impressive, and in my opinion worth the upgrade.
On the down-side the software on Mac OS is at times rather bloated and quite resource hungry but I wouldn't say anymore than the previous version. Personally I haven't experienced issues requiring a complete re-install, as mentioned by other Mac OS users, but I can only vouch for the last 12 months.

That said I have come across one rather serious issue worth mentioning for other Mac OS users.
After a short time of basic usage iMindMap 11 hogs the cpu and effectively becomes unresponsive. After some testing this issue was reproduced and seems to have a relation or conflict with applications that require specific system access to function properly like the productivity app Magnet.
These apps are found in the list under:
System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Accessibility.

With no apps selected this issue does not occur, however disabling one productivity app to use another kind of defeats the purpose!
NOTE: I have contacted iMindMap support and they seem to be aware of this issue and claim to be working on a fix.

To summarise:
In terms of general stability and system performance, for Mac OS, I would say that v11 seems to be on par with v10. Although to be fair a few days is not nearly enough testing so this is purely my personal opinion based on very average and rather limited usage so far.

In terms of feature set I am very impressed and would even go so far as to say -- worth the hefty upgrade -- granted of-course that they fix serious bugs as mentioned above.
