CRIMP at chronic state: from computer tools to power tools

I recently got obsessed with the power tools such as Makita, Milwaukee and Dewalt. I am totally tempted to leave my academic study and join the wood working shop.
I am now worried my CRIMP for computer tools has grown to power tools.
The kind of feeling I get when I pick one of these power tools is just exactly the kind of feeling I experience when I pull my favorite note manager (Tinderbox).
I feel alive, to tell you the least.
Does anyone in this community get a temptation for power tools?

If I did, I would probably not have enough fingers left on my hands to type this.

I think one can become CRIMP-ish about many things. For me, it was once about fishing flies. I used to make some of them myself, but even then I couldn’t ever quite find the one design that satisfied all my requirements (which were not just about catching fish).

Moving out of the realm of this forum, I believe that acronym commonly used is GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome. At least it is commonly used in the photo world.
Good luck,
