iA Writer ( https:/ /ia.net/writer/) is probably one of the most sophisticated and beatiful distraction-free writing tool currently available for macOS, iOS and Android - but not for Windows.
But the wait for the Windows version is coming to an end soon if the funding on Kickstarter will be successful!

I got an update today. Here is a list of iA Writer for Windows features and functions:

Markdown: Type to structure text.
Focus Mode: Focus Mode dims everything but the current sentence, helping you stay in the flow.
Type Writer Mode: Have your cursor vertically centered on the screen so you always see the sentence you are working on right ahead of you.
Night Mode: iA Writer includes an inverted “light on dark” mode, perfect for writing at night.
Full-Screen Mode: Give your writing the attention it deserves
Folding: Expand and compress the text below a headline so you can quickly switch beteen a structural and a detailed view
Writing Goals: Set a goal in number of words/characters
Duo Spaced Font: Use iA Writer Duospace, a font optimized for writing.
Markdown Preview: Use the preview function to see how your text renders in a separate preview
PDF Export: Export your text as a simple PDF
Content Blocks: Embed pictures files, table files, and other plain text files…

Clarification: When I say update, I mean an email update, not an update of the software or a beta version. I don't have that.

Thanks Dominik, I just pledged too; I'd very much want to be able to use this in Windows.

I think that this is a great way for developers to assess the market and for us users to put our money where our mouth is :-)

Looks like iA Writer could become my Ulysses replacement for Windows and iOS.

I asked them if and when they plan to add the Syntax Highlight feature to the Windows version.
Their reply: "That would be nice to have in the future. For now we're focused on getting a solid version 1.0 out the door. If you try to cram in too much with the first step, you'll end up with a product that doesn't do anything particularly well."

I could be wrong, but iA Writer seems more like a less fully featured version of WriteMonkey, and nothing at all like Ulysses.

I know that iA Writer does not match the features found in Ulysses. But I did not use many of them in Ulysses. For me Ulysses was a beautiful writing environment that allowed me to seamlessly work on my Mac and my iPad in the same document. And that's what iA Writer does offer, too. And it's available for Windows now - and that's where I do most of my writing.
