Dynalist getting even better

I bought a Pro subscription a while back, and have been using it as a work journal and daily management tool. But the team is really improving things. In addition to the standalone app (that Chrome subset thing), they're working on Android and iOS apps. I've been using it on my Android phone (just the website) and iOS (again, website only), and it works much better than the experience of Workflowy. About all it's missing lately is a word count and drop and drop on mobile. But they're closing the gaps between desktop and mobile rapidly. It's nice to see, along with Outlinely, some real progress in the outline app world.

Merry Christmas, all.

I should try it again. I have grown frustrated waiting for a new Workflowy version. The developer says soon, but no indication of what that means.

After three years as a workflowy pro subscriber I too ran out of patience and recently switched to Dynalist. I'm not going to continue paying workflowy $50/yr just for hosting my outline data. Dynalist is doing a great job of making steady improvements and enhancements, and engaging their users on a regular basis. Very refreshing. I will gladly support their efforts with a pro subscription and encourage others to consider doing the same.

I see your point. If you're not using it, it definitely doesn't make sense to keep paying for it. Workflowy lets you easily export to OPML. And of course, Dynalist will import it directly. Kudos to Workflowy for building an open platform, and for making such a frictionless tool.

I don't know as much about encryption on the Dynalist platform. Anybody else?

I've recently begun using Dynalist too. It's not as "clean" as Workflowy, but it has a number of features that Workflowy does not. The most important of these for me is that I can organize my outlines in nested folders. I'm putting it through its paces, but I like it so far.

Dynalist.io is hosted on Amazon's AWS platform. See: http://help.dynalist.io/security/ While AWS does offer data regionalization, and various encryption techniques, all Dynalist says is "Files uploaded to Dynalist are hosted at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and enjoys the security provided by it". That's rather vague since it's up to developers to configure key elements of AWS security.

I haven't looked at them for a while but the new features are very impressive. I guess they pinched their main concept from WorkFlowy, but now they may need to worry about WorkFlowy pinching some of their ideas ;)

While the new features are tempting, I'm not quite ready to make the switch yet. Ironically some of the things I'm missing are not WorkFlowy's but of the 'ecosystem' of Stylish CSS that grew up around WorkFlowy:

https://userstyles.org/styles/browse/workflowy

Dynalist is lacking such a community and the few CSS I did try so far did not work (at least on the demo account):

HI, developer here.

That's only for the uploaded files, i.e. file attachment. We host the content ourselves, with Digital Ocean.

You can find the private policy here: https://dynalist.io/privacy

Sadly, Stylish stylesheets will break when we change the layout or the naming of things. If the contributor doesn't maintain it regularly, it is going to break eventually :(

We do try to offer a wide range of themes and fonts (all free) to make up for it. That's not our top priority right now, but we believe being able to customizing the looks and control is important.

Erica,

Thank you for participating on this forum and for responding to some of the concerns about Dynalist. You have a very good product, I believe. I wish you continued success with it. And I'm looking forward to the iOS app. Thanks, again.
