I received an e-mail about this and it's on Evernote's website as well:

Have you or anyone else on this forum been able to get the Evernote sync to work yet? I've tried, setting up as described in the help file, but it won't work as I keep getting a message saying I need to get an authorization token (which I already did twice). Just wondering if this is a problem with RightNote or just with me.
Thanks.
Steve

A quick response from Rael Bauer, the developer of RightNote, to my inquiry about this. Yes. There is a bug in the latest release. You have an option to set a RightNote password to protect your Evernote data (not the same password you use for Evernote itself). If you try to set this password, RightNote and/or Evernote does not recognize the authorization token, so for the time being leave the password blank in the Evernote set up dialog in RightNote. This is going to be fixed in the next release.

Steve, thanks for the heads up and feedback from Rael Bauer. However, my own problem in using RightNote with EverNote is completely different: I am unable to create an EverNote type note in RightNote and then save the file. I get a strange error which I sent to Rael for checking and the application crashes. So I have been unable to create a single EverNote type note to test the sync. The authorisation itself worked fine.
I think the potential is there, but I hope these teething problems will be solved soon. In fact, as I was writing this message, Rael sent me a possible fix.

By the way, I encouraged Rael to write in this forum about the Evernote Devcup challenge. I expect quite a few people here would want to try and support his effort, i.e. a 'classic' desktop outliner getting optional cloud sync capabilities without any compromise in its functionality. As soon as I can get it working, I'll be happy to vote for it.
In fact, I find very interesting the different routes that our two fellow Outliners (Neville and Rael) have taken in cloud functionality, after several years of developing their applications as desktop only.

In fairness to Rael, it does say in the help file that the Evernote syncing feature should be treated as a beta -- although he perhaps could make that clearer upfront. But to make matters worse, I just tried to go to the RightNote web site, but it was blocked by Norton saying there was an intrusion attempt... This is the first time that's happened, and I've visited www.bauerapps.com several times in the past week. Just sent a message to Rael.

UPDATE: Rael has reacted in split seconds, the issue has been resolved and I've just performed my first sync with Evernote. With such a star dentist, I don't mind the teething problems :-)
Re access to http://www.bauerapps.com/ I got the same warning from Microsoft's Security monitor which I generally find quite accurate. I expect that Rael's website has attracted some malevolent activity from someone who found it via the Evernote competition. Popularity comes at a price.
I would suggest to NOT visit the site until Steve posts an update from Rael on this issue.

Rael responded quickly to my inquiry, but he didn't have anything that I found reassuring relative to the security risk. He said someone else had reported this the other day and that he'd tried it accessing his site using Norton 360, which is what I use, and didn't get any kind of warning.
Alexander, if you haven't already done so, perhaps you should send Rael an e-mail saying that you got a similar result with a different security application so he can't shrug it off so casually. (He suggested I click the ignore button, which I'm NOT going to do.)

Hi Stephen.
I bought the Rightnote license through Bitsdujour, too. When installing F-Secure issued a warning. I checked the installer file using 2 other virus scanners that did not find fault with it. In the past, I found McAfee and Norton to cry wolf too often.

The site is infected. Chrome, Google Results, and Sucuri all say it's infected.

Most likely his server was hacked.

Steve, Critstock, Tim, thanks for the additional info, I have passed it to Rael who is apparently quite interested,
By the way, Google Diagnostics no longer show the site as suspicious http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=bauerapps.com

FYI, the issue seems to have been resolved. Here's Rael's last update:
"Thanks alot for your help. Genuine site hack. Removed offending files, but will likely take a while for changes to be registered. Got to go to bed now."
I've visited the file again with Internet Explorer and this time Microsoft Security gave no warning of malware. You may want to test for yourselves. As per Rael's message, solutions that rely upon black lists may still show an issue. However, desktop security solutions testing for real time threats should give the site a clean bill of health if the issue has indeed been resolved.

I went to the web site this morning and had no issues. Looks like Rael did indeed correct the problem. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Earlier I reported that I had used the web page export of RightNote and that it had imported pages just fine. Today I imported a page that didn't come through as I'd hoped. All the information was there, but it was a bit jumbled. Nevertheless, I've been generally impressed with how well RN handles this task.
I also like how RN handles cut and paste from a web page. When you paste selected text in a RN note, it includes a nice little source reference box with a link back to the web pages and includes the date and time of the paste.

I am very excited about Rightnote being able to sync with evernote... but I can't get it to work :(
Every time I try to save a file that has an evernote type note in it, it crashes (sent a bug report with additional info).
Am I the only one with this problem? Logging in to evernote and getting the names of the notebooks works without problems. But can't save the file, and therefore not sync ('no evernote type notes in the file').

I did a few tests of the Evernote/Rightnote synchronization this afternoon, and this is what I found.
You set up the connection in Rightnote under "Tools." Don't put in a password for Rightnote. Choose an EN notebook.
Create a note in Rightnote. Then choose the synchronization item in "Tools"; don't use the icon on the menu bar, because that will cause Rightnote to crash. (I have no idea why.) Then go into EN and synchronize at that end, and the note will appear in the notebook you have chosen. Any changes you make in the note in EN can then be synced back to Rightnote.
All the standard EN formatting commands are available in Rightnote, including the checkboxes.
In other words, it works, more or less, but it's certainly not ready for prime time yet. As I said, the menu icon for syncing in Rightnote has to be avoided. A few of the formatting choices in Rightnote -- I noticed horizontal lines and bullets in particular -- cause Rightnote to crash. Tags can be synced from EN to Rightnote but not vice versa. Formatting goes haywire from time to time in Rightnote -- extremely small or large fonts suddenly appear, even when you have selected the default font.
I think the concept is very promising, and I hope Rightnote will get the problems sorted out eventually. The beauty of this system is that you would be able to organize your notes with Rightnote's tree panel yet also take advantage of Evernote's reach into the mobile world.
