Hello,

This is somewhat off-topic, but we did have a discussion of text editors recently, and I thought that some of you might find this news of interest. The free word processor Jarte now has version 3.0 available in beta. Go to http://www.jarte.com and click on the News link to find the download for the beta.

Jarte is a great little program, in my opinion, because of the following features:

1. It is free (although there is also a very inexpensive version with additional features)
2. It sits in the system try waiting patiently to be used
3. It has a unique and pleasing user interface
4. You can select plain or rich text formatting for your documents
5. It has a screen capture function (not very sophisticated)
6. It has a tabbed-interface for switching back and forth between documents (although you can’t have more than one visible at a time)

The three most key improvements to Version 3.0 are the following:

1. The interface is now a lot more professional looking
2. You can now add tables to your rich text documents—and Jarte is now one of the few applications that has both tables and full extended selection editing
3. USB device installation
