This program has been discussed here in the past. A tag-based notetaker.

Today's price $24.98 (50 per cent saving).

I don't wanna be harsh, but personal knowledge? no images? 3rd milenium? a picture is worth ...

But there is a picture on the right side towards the bottom. clicking on it reveals five screenshots. Or are you objecting to its text-based nature? It would be like objecting to a horse that it is not a cow?or so it seems to me.

In any case, I prefer ConnectedText, which does not just pictures, but also movies and runs circles around Personal KnowBase. It's the only reason why still do Windows.

I was objecting to its text-based nature. Horse, cow???

physics, math, geography, chemistry, biology ... everywhere you find pictures/formulas/graphs/maps ... I was refering to its limitation to store/represent such knowledge.

For my needs it's perfect. Depending on the project, a text-based organizer is plenty, and anything more would just get in the way.

The real problem with Personal Knowbase is its cost. Even discounted at BDJ, it's priced about 2-3x too high for what it does.

I am sorry for the "?" it was a long dash before I published the comments.

I just wanted to say that there is nothing wrong with text-based programs. They are just a different species of "animal." No one has to use (or buy) such a program, but it's pointless (I think) to object to it for being what it is.

come on, $25 is too high? develepers spent many years to learn to program and then many other years to develop that soft, and it's not worth a few hamburgers?

It look like exactly what I have been looking for. I just started trying it out today.

It is very likely that I am going to purchase it.

A whole lot of my "silicon-life" in in text files. For me, it is really a virtue that it exports to .txt so well.

I was referring to its normal price of $49.95, and yes, that's too high for what it does (that's the important part - *for what it does*). ConnectedText is $10 cheaper and does much more.

Personal Knowbase is a little overpriced at $50, but it is a mature, stable product that works exactly as advertised. It is not as sophisticated at Connected Text by any means, but it takes a lot less effort to learn how to use it properly. If you only need to collect and organize text, you could do a lot worse than PK. Or, another way to put this, I'd be perfectly happy with PK if that were the one tool I could use.

My two biggest issues with PK are, first, that it does not have any tools for facilitating capture of information -- nothing like Cinta Notes handy hot keys, for instance (CN and PK are a lot a like in their focus on tabs (keywords in PK-speak), except that CN is plain text only), and, second, that it hasn't had any kind of major update in several years. I wonder if the developers have run out of steam.

your original comment was NOT referring to price $50, you wrote:

Maybe I have a problem with understanding writen text, but I interpret the above as if you suggested that it should cost about ("discounted BDJ price"/3, "discounted BDJ price"/2), i.e between $8 and $12, for what it does.

I didn't realize the 50% off was for one day only.

I am interested in this program, but I don't think I will drop $50 on it.
