Has anyone used Action Outline much? Is it an elegant, minimalist 2-pane outliner, sort of a two-pane Windows Opal; OR is it a dumbed-down, least-common-denominator 2-paner?

Stephen,

I've not used Opal, so I can't make that comparison, but ActionOutline was my go-to outliner when I was on Windows. I'd say it's a minimalist two-pane outliner, simple and reliable.

It has been some time since I tried it, but I was always impressed by its clean interface and solid feel, so I think your characterization of an elegant, minimalist 2-pane outliner is correct. Not worth $39, but $20 seems about right.

Considering that Noteliner is available for free and so it has become a kind of a benchmark, my question would be: What does ActionOutline offer over and above Noteliner that is worth $20?

Stephen, long time since I've seen you on the net. How are you doing? I hope all is well.

I bought a copy a month or so ago when I also found it for half price. Then my PC crashed and I needed to reinstall the software. The link provided for downloading a licensed copy was supposed to stay active for two weeks, but did not work even though it had been just 12 days. I have twice written to the developer asking for help and have received no reply. It may be work $20 -- I do like this application -- but the developer apparently does not have any intention of providing support to customers, sadly.
