Tana Outliner

I try not to overindex on situations that may be one-offs, but for what it's worth, I've had quite an experience with Tana Support about its Outliner version. My paid subscription came to an end, and I had some questions about what level I should renew at. After a couple of reasonably helpful responses from Tana's support, I got complete silence for the past month, even with a couple of follow-ups -- including a comment that it was not a good look for the company to be ignoring its Outliner users when there are questions about the continued vitality of that version.
There may be perfectly legitimate reasons why that would happen. Perhaps the support person who was helping me left the company and nobody has checked his inbox (although the emails were sent to support@tana.com). I mention this episode in case there are those of you who are thinking about continuing (or starting) with Tana, given the split in its versions. Tana keeps saying that it's going to continue developing and supporting its earlier Outliner version, but this experience was not a confidence builder.

Tana management and staff engagement with users has become largely silence. There is some limited posting from a couple or three lower level staff on Tana's Slack for the user community. The group of influencers who at one time were very active with their tutorials, advanced training, etc. have all but disappeared or gone on to make content for other apps. I've seen zero advertising for the "new" Tana app. (Although advertising it as an "agentic meeting platform" isn't very exciting.)
I've stopped using Tana Outliner, which is a complex but fascinating piece of software, because I see no reason to spend anymore effort on it. My best hope is that when the company does die, probably by the end of the year, it manages to sell off the Tana Outliner asset to someone who can make good use of it and resurrect it in some form. Although, that seems unlikely.

It is such a volatile time for PKM developers and users. There are so many options, and the technology changes so quickly, especially for those developers incorporating AI (which is most of them, it seems). I don't know if there will be an end to the shake out and things will stabilize, or if this is the environment we're stuck with for the foreseeable future, but it is a cautionary reminder to keep your data as versatile as possible -- not that this is news to anyone on this forum.
