Hi, all,

I've recently seen a new app called Protolyst, which is very much a Notion-lite app:

https://protolyst.org/

I have not tried it, and probably won't, but it looks like it might have a place in the market, bringing Notion-like features to a simpler interface. It has relational database tables, for example. It also has something called atomic notes, which I think function like block references, although I'm not entirely sure. The price is $10 a month, which seems a little steep.

Anyway, I mention it here for the sake of thoroughness.

I saw a post a while back from a co-founder of Protolyst (RicJBarnes on Twitter) mentioning an acaemic who used Hypothes.is (an open source annotation service) with Readwise to import atoms into @protolyst for backlinking, retaining the link to the source content. Which sounds clunky but fascinating.

Interesting new product. I've had a very quick look. Takes a little time to get a handle on what they're doing, but it is quite impressive, especially the multi-column display of relevant notes ("atoms"); that's a system I wish more text-based apps used.

Reminds me also of Scrivener and Lattics.
