Opinions on updated versions of Heptabase vs. Scrintal?

Both have seemed to undergo significant recent changes. I have been using Scrintal and find it useful, despite some early stumbles and odd omissions. Heptabase seems very comparable, and now that it has a web version I could use it for work (at least if it allows data entry and is not merely a viewer). I’d be very interested in folks’ comparative thoughts about them, or at least recent thoughts about Heptabase. I thought Steve Zeoli’s postings a while back were very informative; Steve, any new thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks for asking. First of all, I admire both apps and I think they will each get better and better. I am inclined toward Heptabase at this point for a few reasons:
1. Heptabase is local first, but has added a web version, so it is accessible on most devices (I haven’t tried using it on my iOS devices yet).
2. Heptabase allows you to label the visual links on your whiteboards, which I think is very useful. I suggest that feature to the folks at Scrintal, but I don’t think they’ve implemented it.
3. Both apps allow daily notes, but Heptabase’s daily notes are arranged for you chronologically, which makes a lot of sense to me.
4. Heptabase allows you to open a PDF and drag text into your whiteboards.
On the plus side for Scrintal is their table element, which allows you to build kanban boards.
I should conclude with a caveat. I don’t use either app extensively, so there are a lot fascets I am probably unaware of. Hopefully others here with more experience of either app with chime in.
