Does sync work with Google’s storage/backup? Over the weekend I loged into my AmEx account and among my card’s eligible offers included 30% back in statement credit on any annual Google One storage plan costing at least $19.99.

On desktop just about any file synchronization based on local storage should work fine. The main limitation is going to be what mobile OS you use and any limitations it may have.
I’m on Mac and iOS, on Mac any number of sync methods would work fine (Dropbox, iCloud, Google, etc.) But on iOS only iCloud and Obsidian Sync work seamlessly in the background, so I use iCloud which works pretty well. It doesn’t have versioning but Obsidian’s default ‘File Recovery’ plugin works well for that.
