Yes. The current vs. 1.4.2 is from 2017.
I contacted Alfons today bc. of a Windows update but haven’t received an answer, yet.

I don’t think an updated Windows version is ever coming. I emailed Alfons a while ago about this. He explained that he does not see sufficient demand for a Windows version to warrant further development. Alfonse left the door open to reconsider if the market justifies his work.

If I were on Windows I’d take a closer look at Joplin as an alternative.

Yes, Joplin is an option, it improved a lot compared to the time I took a look.
As is Obsidian.
Nevertheless, I’d love to keep NotebooksApp :-) and get an update (even if I had to pay for it).

Alfons replied to my e-mail. They are working on the iOS/MacOS updates and the documentation right now.
Re the Windows version: “But we have not completely lost sight of the Windows version. Nevertheless, I do not dare to name a date yet.”
Hm ...
