Hey everyone.
I’ve found my annotation unicorn I think.
It looks like they just made a big update. It’s now like a “super-charged document annotator/highlighter” with “roam-esque” features.
I’m really excited about it: https://getpolarized.io
What’s Rad:
- - - -
TAGGING — you can tag every highlight/annotation.
AREA HIGHLIGHT — In effect, it takes a picture of the source material. The cool thing is, that picture visually shows up in the search!
TEXT HIGHLIGHT — Works like above, except for text. That text visually shows up in search.
NOTES / COMMENTS — underneath each highlight/annotation, you can make a comment/note (which you can fold / unfold like an outliner). Tags you enter in a Note also show up in Linked References.
LINKED REFERENCES — like Roam, every Tag get’s it’s own “page.” And like Roam, each Tag’s page shows all Linked References of that Tag in other annotations across your library. Crazy!
SEARCHING — The best part I think. Everything above shows up, VISUALLY, in the search.
The area highlights (pictures of source material) actually shows up in the search!

That does look pretty darn cool (even though there are already very similar apps on macOS/iOS).
Cheers!

Oh is this a redesign of Polar, from a few years ago
I remember being super excited about using it, and then Notion happened. (If I remember correctly)
Instead of joining wait-list or making account, it upgraded me, so I am thinking this is it! Pretty excited actually.

Is there a pricing structure? Is the early access a limited free account or will is always be free?

Hey Bill,
Really? Which apps are similar?
