Fastmail now also has a “hide my email” thing which they call “Masked email”. It’s like a collaboration with 1Password which can automatically create Fastmail aliases from within 1Password, pretty much the same way iCloud Hide my Email works (Of course you’d need to subscribe both services..)

Problem solved:
And thank you, mkasu.
Just yesterday, Fastmail announced a new feature, “masked emails”.
Very easy to use.
Here is a masked email I created with the new Fastmail feature:
sunny.joy0898@fastmail.com
The only place I’ll use that mask is on this forum.
If you want to try it, I’ll send back a confirming reply.
Larger lesson learned:
In my opening post on this topic, I defined the problem as “email aliases”.
That’s correct, but not precise.
When I searched “email aliases”, few helpful results.
The function is better known as “masked email”.
And a fresh search for that returned many useful hits.
I hope this information is useful to others here.

Here is another service that offers masked email aliases:
33mail is much easier to use than FastMail’s “masked address”, which I wrote about above.
With FastMail must create a masked address BEFORE using it.
Not difficult, but annoying if you used masked emails a lot.
But with 33mail, just type in any email “on the fly” and that alias will be created when the first email to that alias is received.
So easy.
If you want to try it, here is a masked email address to me:
OutlinerForum@mailbox34.33mail.com
.
Note 1:
I typed “OutlinerForum”, then used a macro in Keyboard Maestro to enter the rest.
.
Note 2:
33mail is not an email send-recieve service.
Can not read or compose emails there.
Still need a regular email service to do that.
33mail just makes masked email a lot easier.
And it can add masked emails to any other email service that doesn’t offer masking.
