Mac users will be delighted to learn that despite the commercial failure of Growly Notes – by far the fastest, most efficient OneNote equivalent for macOS – the app is still being developed by the amiable Chris Mason and is once again free to download from the Growly Birds website (https://growlybird.com/
The app is now up to version 4.2.6, the file format has changed, and it has a plethora of new features (including a search function that automatically includes any embedded PDFs). The iPadOS version has died a death, and Chris has clearly been focusing on the desktop app. His efforts show: most impressive is the incredibly tiny footprint, much much smaller than any equivalent OneNote-style app, and so much smaller than OneNote itself it’s actually quite funny!
Growly Bird notebooks can also be shared over a network or online (the Help file, launched by default when you first open the app, goes into fantastic detail). It’s a great app, and I am seriously impressed by Chris’s ongoing unremunerated enthusiasm.
Cheers!
