I was clicking around the BitsDuJour PIM category and ended up at the NoteFrog website. This small and handy program is now available with a free license on its homepage: http://notefrog.com/.
I haven’t used it before but I like its simplicity and the clear interface. It has a good getting started tutorial in its help window.
I especially like the clickable, searchable HTML export format. If you download the exported HTML file to an Android phone, you can open it with Markor and it will be fully viewable and searchable there.
Perhaps of interest to someone here.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Notefrog provides a simple functionality that I used a lot in my Psion days: taking notes that are then listed by their first words. No need for titles or tagging, though I understand that some type of tagging is possible.

Yes, the example database has {tag} text at the bottom of each note. Obviously could be #tag as well. Using search will find tagged notes.
Making a manual tags list note called {tags} and adding the search for {tags} to favorites could be a handy reminder of tags in the database.

Rather nice.
For a simple cross-platform alternative, there is always SimpleNote (by Automattic), which is clean, well-designed, includes tagging and has an excellent search function.

Yes, SimpleNote is a great program and also free, I believe. I used it for a while until it started glitching: text that I wrote on my phone would be added several times, notes that I deleted would not be gone. I hope it’s working better now.
